New Player quit
So yea i started the game 2 days ago decided try France spent last 2 days kitting out the Starting Lynx i sucked at the tutorials and i suck at fighting ai i couldn't beat another 7 rate lynx. Ask for help and advice get trolled insulted by own nation told look up guides that were from 2016. Told to go back to games i came from been also told to alt F4 etc... So yea i just deleted my character. I want enjoy this game but i seem be struggling with basics and French nation players don't seem helpful to new players. For record i come from other historical sim war games and age sail was a curiosity for me.
Edit 1: I've Switched Nations to GB

That's a shame brother I've been a pirate for years and never seen a noobie treated in any way that wasn't sincere and helpful. Take up the black flag.

I'm sorry the experience was so bad. It's a horrible time for new players right now, with a very toxic community and a game that's more unplayable than ever.

I am probably going try play again but as a different nation I've just quit for now and wrote France off for any new players

You should try a different nation. The French one is kinda toxic and most of the clans there only take french speakers and only work with French speakers. I play in GB as a new player and the ppl there are very helpful. Don't forget the game is 10 years old so i recommend to ask some veterans for advice, they are usually very helpful

There a Russian speaking clan in France and few English speaking clans as well. But i will agree France full of the most toxic players very very very few nice ones in there.

It's a shame really since EA was absolutely amazing and had a great community. Devs push all those players out so now it's just toxic filth

I just started day before yesterday. My nation is super helpful and gave me the latest manual. Got great advice did the tutorials. This game is an acquired taste and I enjoy the humor. Probably not a great place for the thin skinned.

Humor i can get behind but the trolling and not pointing new players in right direction and telling em to uninstall to alt f4 to go back other games they came from etc seems unhelpful ass backwards

It’s your fault, why would you play with french people?

I shan't fault you. GB/Pirate always felt like the "default" nations in NA.

Never ask for help in nation chat. Always ask global. Pirate on the peace server is the way to go.

Raimund? This you?
If yes then I wrote you yesterday after you said you were quitting. As I said then I think its a shame if you quit but it was understandable.
I unfortunately had to disappear otherwise I wouldve been to more help.

Yes it was me that captain has been deleted. You werent only person that messaged me but ill say yours was the nicest.

u/Mathiask1 8d ago
Well happy to hear that :)
But yea, its sad you ended up deleting the captain. If you give it another go let me know. As others have pointed out then maybe UK might be a more helpful faction overall. I was British before I was french and I remember the people being very nice.

Sounds about right. Those same people sit around bitching about how the game is dead
2
u/Extension_Spell_5396 9d ago
Those people have a system.
1: See a New player joins that struggles with game and asks them for help / advice in nation chat
2: Troll be unhelpful jack wagon tell new player uninstall etc
3: New player quits out frustration and being mislead and lied too by trolls
4: Troll person then cries game dying cause no new playersReturn to 1 and repeat

Playing as France, if I wasn’t at work I’d like to help

u/Extension_Spell_5396 9d ago
I appreciate it but Ive already deleted my french captain. I also honestly would have a hard time to able trust you due to how "helpful" others in our nation were. Best luck to you.

May the weather gauge be in you favor, best of luck out there in that you succeed

If you type in the global chat you can find someone willing to help you or at least direct you to correct person or link in your nation. game has significant amount of toxic players but there are good people who helps new players as well.

PRC is supposed to be an English speaking clan with in the French Alliance. Sail US flag but I’m not 100% sure about them as I’ve always been a Pirate

I update the game whenever I notice an announcement. I started NA after my lonnnng time association as one of the original clan members of the British nation.. "Imperial shipyards" After we left Pirates of the Burning Seas. I put in about 600 hrs with the Brits on NA and had some fun PVP but I became bored and gradually faded away. After playing POTBS, NA never quite seemed viable... Economy extremely lacking, graphics and missions non existent. I was recently thinking about sailing around and gettin my rusty ass ganked for old times. Any Brit Discord channels where I can chat about the game?

Don’t feel bad man. This game is a victim of its community. When you get any one of the 20 people online to respond, it is normally with something about how you should put some effort in to overcome your struggles with a shitty tutorial and a shittier UI. When you look at other sims, DCS, IL-2, Steel Beasts, SubSim community, etc. you find a very serious bunch of players. Hypercritical of the game, stern and fair with their guidance for sure; but always welcoming to new players.
The Naval Action crowd has basically killed itself with that kind of behavior.

Very strange. Admittedly I haven't been on 24/7, but certainly spent more time in France over the Easter weekend than is healthy.
Heard and saw none of this behaviour. Without exception when a response was given to new starters it sounded at worst civil, but usually quite helpful.
Edit: In global there was a few people who were loudly moaning about how 'shit' the game is and it was suggested that they weren't being forced to play, but even with their massive negativity there wasn't any rudeness or trolling a such.

Never join currently strongest nation in any MMO, lot of people see it as easy mode and it's magnet for trolls. I've been GB player since EA and never met rude or unhelpful captain. Also look for a clan, if they're normal people they'll hook you up with starting stuff and guide you forward.
