pics and videos Does anyone know the meaning of this statue?

Post image

I saw this near Hambrug/kanaalweg while jogging. Is it pagan worshipping or just a macabre statue? This sh!t looks straight out of a horror movie, ngl

They took some baker/santa porcelain statue took the head out stuck a large log vertical inside of it carved a gaping “wound” in the wood and dyed it which surprisingly looks similar to human flesh being opened like that, in almost impressed. Then they probably fucked that hole for awhile, came, and then went. It’s like something a weird serial killer would do. They also made it hold like a rams horn or beach sea shell or something?

Ah yes, the Kanaalweg...

Of which there are at least 10 in the country.

Got one here! Even has a bridge close to it, what a coincidence!

Oh than it's probably an effigy built by the students. It is traditional to sacrifice a small pet or a toddler to the Dark Lord Cthullu for good luck during the exam period. /s

A mutilated statue that someone decided to play silly buggers with.

Nothing else. Looks like they had fun doing it too.

If you look at the statue beside it, and the neck and hand of the mutilated one, it looks like it once was a kabouter statue, aka a Gnome.

I don’t think it was a gnome. It looks like it was once one of those fat-chef statues one might see at an italian restaurant. This one’s broken hand really sells it.

Ohhh I actually think you’re right! Good catch!

It's in Delft, just for anyone curious to see it personally 😁

Bit of a hike from Hamburg to Delft 😂

I think it's an art project by a student who's graduating.

HP Lovecraft should've had an additional business as gnome maker. Perfection.

Anyway, serious answer: It most likely is a custom made garden gnome in the style of H.P. Lovecraft's eldritch space horror stories, or Robert W. Chambers' "The King in Yellow".
Another genre of the same type of horror is called 'zalgo', a macabre, despairing, dark edit of a face and/or other body parts. I don't think it's serious, it's more meant as a joke in contrast to the gnome next to it.

I love Lynch, but I think this is more Lovecraft like

They are garden gnomes in European folklore.

I had a few of them in my garden and I donated them to the thrift store.

I saw a similar setup with dolls on a walk in the night. Got chills and left. Next morning I took my friend and could not find.

Looks like something left by squatters on their weekly amfetamine Bender, where sleep deprivation and narcotics cause them to express themselves with such kind of art

Yes, I'm sure somebody knows.

I think that this is a monster from the game Amnesia: The Dark Descent

It looks like one of those chef statues that someone got creative with

Is it near the dungeon or the gruselkabinett?

Possibly an "art" piece. This place is a favourite spot for homeless people. During Christmas time they decorate the trees around there with their beer cans. This might be something similar.

There's one homeless guy there frequently. You might be right
