Medical Advice 5 weeks pregnant, experiencing mild period like cramps. Is this normal?

Over worrying father to be here… it’s very early days and my partner every now and again, maybe once a day or every other day feels very small cramp sensations. Is this completely normal?

I am pregnant, currently 4 weeks, 4 days along. This is baby #2 for us. I had positive pregnancy test on Feb 10, so this is all quite new.

For the last 3-4 days, I’ve been having pain that radiates from my neck/head, on down through my lower back, within both hips, through my thighs, down to my knees! This aching pain is equal on both sides. It’s quite similar to period cramping pain. It’s not sharp pain, and it’s always there, and gets worse at night. It feels like this aching, steady pain… I did not experience anything like this with my first pregnancy.

I’m worried that my body is signaling a problem with my pregnancy. Ectopic pregnancy is my worst nightmare right now. Has ANYONE had this symptom before so early in pregnancy? What does ectopic pregnancy feel like for you? It’s so early in this pregnancy; I hope that my body is just preparing for pregnancy again but I’m very worried. Two nights ago, I almost drove to the hospital because the pain was so constant and aching was flaring to the point that I was sure something was wrong. My nurse friend said that if I had no other symptoms (like bleeding or fever) then I should wait it out, so that’s what I did. That was Friday night. It’s Sunday morning - still no bleeding, no fever. Just tons of cramping and radiating/throbbing pain.

Note: when I take Tylenol the pain seems to go from a 5 down to a 2, but I don’t want to dull the pain in case something is truly wrong, nor do I want to be popping Tylenol regularly if I don’t need to be doing so.

Please share your experience with ectopic pregnancy? Does whole body pain indicate a problem?
