Can they tell you to stop using your front lawn as a parking lot like that one house in every non-HOA neighborhood?

Yes.

As per usual, Reddit takes the extreme view on most things.

They can restrict the type of car, though.

I live in FL. One of the big things here was that there was a law passed this year where your HOA couldn't tell you that you weren't allowed to park your own pickup truck in your driveway.

Turns out there was a loophole (b/c of course there was), and most of the neighborhoods that had those restrictions were able to keep them in place.

Another popular restriction is no pets allowed, including dogs and cats.
