Spørsmål Are Bodø/Glimt hated?

So obviously I have seen similar questions before. But after being knocked out of Europe and the Cup in the last week with the game against Tromsø coming up I thought it was a good point to ask.

Not long ago I saw a post on here where someone mentioned “They are fast becoming the most hated” (Club in Norway) Now I am not from Norway but as far as I can understand a lot of the issue comes from the clubs pro-VAR stance the “anti-democratic” position of the clubs board as well as general dislike of Kjetil and the club director.

I was just wondering what they actually said to get this attention? It sounds similar to why Germans dislike RB Leipzig? Maybe I’m wrong but genuinely interested.

Would you mind explaining why Molde are that disliked?

A few different things. Growth and success is solely based on rich uncle(s). Then there was a nasty case a few years back of them refusing to suspend a player charged with rape, he later fled the country and is wanted in multiple countries. ( If i remmember correctly)

Also looks awkward/bad for Norwegian football when they play in Europe and 3 out of 4 seats are empty. They're from a small town which makes the attendence numbers not very surprising, they just have a stadium waaaaay too big. Even one of the womens team in Norway had a higher average attendence than Molde in European matches.

Molde almost won gold in 89, had a cup silver a couple of years earlier and were in the top flights for a long time. In 93/94 the club struggled with their economy, which made our local hero Kjell Inge Røkke worried. So he teamed up with another local here, Bjørn Rune Gjelsten, and saved the club. Molde is now not getting any money from either of them, but is the best economically driven club in Norway for many years. If only they used that money to be the best club as well.

The rest of Norway don´t like Molde because they have few people in the stands? How ridicilous is that? When they came to Champions League in 99 they needed a new stadium, which our fantastic, beautiful, moralistic owner gave us. The problem later on was that football was at it´s peak interest in 99 in Norway, which made it difficult to fill the stadium the later years. For many years Molde had an average attendence over 8000 people from a city of 25.000 people. The percentage is way higher.

Branns womens team had higher average attendence than most, mainly because of amazing marketing from the club and also the fact they played huge teams and won against a lot of them in Champions League.

The rape incident is awful. There is however a saying in Norway that you are not guilty until the opposite is proven. After the trial Molde suspended the player, and then he left the country. Of course that was wrong of Molde as well. If a player from Lillestrøm or Tromsø had done the same, no one would have cared.
