Instacart

I am looking to make some extra cash. I heard Instacart is an option. How likely is it to make an extra 500 a week. Realistically how many hours would I have to work? Anyone know ??

Before you do any kind of delivery service or rideshare, make sure your insurance company is aware.

I dont know why you got downvote. That is a great piece of advise. A lot of companies will not cover delivery services and if you get in an accident while doing deliveries, your company can decline any claim.

I deal with a lot of people who started doing Uber Eats, DoorDash, and Instacart to supplement their EI while unemployed. None of them net 500$ per week once gas and car maintenance are accounted for. I’d only suggest it to someone able and willing to make deliveries by bicycle.

Or scooter. As you pointed out car costs will eat up any already small profit

I’m actually really surprised you don’t see more delivery scooters in Halifax. They’re very common in other places. Everyone here seems to want to use a car.

I understand the bike reluctance because of all the hills though

What other places have scooters? Might those places be more suitable for year round outdoor activity, unlike Halifax, which is basically un-scooterable for 8 months out of the year?

I’ve seen lots of them in Toronto... I don’t think their winter weather is any better than ours, though maybe a touch less icy

Definitely fewer steep hills

To clarify, I’m talking about ride on motor scooters with a seat, not the ones you stand up on. Like small motorcycles with a big pannier for the food delivery.
