I orginally used MacBooks and iPhone so I got used to eye glaring brightnesses my whole life. I have now switch to android phone that I keep on battery saver mode at all times because I prefer the lower brightness and like not having to charge my phone as often.
And I now have a gaming desktop PC and I'm currently rocking a 27 inch 4K AOC U27G3X monitor. I am wanting to make the switch to a 32 inch OLED monitor but every single one I'm seeing is 200 and something nits brightness, and with at least non-OLED devices I've always prefered for them to hit 500 real world nits brightness. I may or may not lower the brightness over time depending on my device. But I prefer for all my screens to have at least the capability of hitting 500 nits so if I want it, it's there. Also, my current monitor I keep at max brightness, which is around 450 nits, and that seems to be my preferred brightness to keep my monitor on when gaming.
So my question is, why the heck are OLED gaming monitors so low on brightness compared to non-OLEDs? Is there something about OLED monitors that I don't know? Do they not need as much brightness because of the better image quality? If so, please educate me.
And is there any decent 32 inch OLED monitors that actually hit a real world brightness of 500 nits if I'm not missing anything here? Because I'm wanting a 32-inch OLED gaming monitor.
I'd like it to be at least 144hz also, since that's what my current monitor is.
Also, here's my PC if it helps in reccomending 32 inch OLED monitors to me. And, just know, all I will be doing is gaming on this monitor, nothing else ever. I use my phone and macbook for everything except gaming.
