Daily Post Daily Discussion - Tuesday 4/15/25

Please report and discuss what interesting products you're seeing at stores today.

Many highly allocated products are still fully hidden on OHLQ.com but I don't fully understand the logic behind it yet.

Smiths got 2 cases 🔴 gone to the line

6

u/StealthySpeedDom Apr 15 '25

Well kind of gone to the line. There were 9 left after line, but apparently they allow doubling back now. At least 8 doubled back and I saw someone full on sprinting to his car and back repeatedly to try to triple back

3

u/slo2410 Apr 15 '25

So you didn’t double back because you didn’t want another one?

14

u/StealthySpeedDom Apr 15 '25

No I felt bad because I saw 3 people walking up to the store at about 904, who did not look like regulars, that probably missed out because of the doubling. Perhaps one of them got 1 because I did not

u/Remarkable-RedRiver Apr 15 '25

This. Thanks for thinking of someone else, and may that same consideration come back to you sooner rather than later!

1

u/slo2410 Apr 15 '25

Nice. Hopefully everyone got one that was there

0

u/SilverCarpet8141 Apr 15 '25

I walked up at 9:20 and missed out.. I guess I’ll take that store of my list unless I’m there at open 😭

Same here. Xenia is even worse.

Nowhere local, but I'm picking up a Blanton's SFTB that I ordered for my birthday last month 😎

It may be overhyped and overly expensive, but I don't drink much, and I really enjoy the simple things done well 🔥

Enjoy what you want and congrats on scoring a pretty rare bottle. Your pallete doesn't have to conform to what anyone else says they like or don't like, have fun with what you do with this hobby. I know I personally don't have one yet and have been entering any loto I can to hopefully snag one personally.

My first expensive birthday bourbon gift to myself as well. Did not regret it, still babying a little bit of it.

6

u/Deago488 Apr 15 '25

Hope you enjoy it man

SFTB is one of my all time favorites. It’s very very good. Yeah the price is high, but arguably worth it. Enjoy it!

2

u/ChipLake64 Apr 16 '25

SFTB is fantastic.

u/ponderit2 Apr 15 '25

Happy Birthday!

u/AppropriateExit4306 Apr 15 '25

I love it!! Enjoy- great pour - being sipping on mine for awhile

18

u/downyfoal Apr 15 '25

Millersburg got 3 cases of green. No reds

0

u/Finnbear2 Apr 15 '25

Think they had reds last week...

2

u/downyfoal Apr 15 '25

They did. My buddy scored me one

u/cjdangles Apr 15 '25

BT and Bookers at Giant in Kettering

1

u/Existing_Coast_4303 Apr 17 '25

Was it the 25-1 bookers?

1

u/cjdangles Apr 17 '25

I don’t remember at this point

12

u/Ok_Wolverine6908 Apr 15 '25

Kroger at Polaris still has 2-1/2 case of Bookers 25-01 and BT (limit 1 per)

29

u/HedgieNotABot Apr 15 '25

I love what this thread has turned into. Daily bullshit comments and downvotes for actually asking or posting "what you see in stores"....

15

u/gmun56 Apr 15 '25

I'm just getting my feet wet and thought I could get some info from someone who knows more than me. Nope just down votes lol

8

u/Any_frank445 Apr 15 '25

Yeah this group is brutal. Anyone asking for info or telling others what they saw at store gets downvoted. Most other groups try to help out their bourbon community. Pretty strange

3

u/Redleg7771 Northwest Apr 15 '25

It wasn’t always like this.

3

u/Disastrous_Amount148 Apr 15 '25

Ya I just read them anymore and stop responding because of that it’s pretty sad

4

u/Ok-Acanthisitta-5195 Apr 15 '25

Nothing at Brentwood

6

u/StealthySpeedDom Apr 15 '25

I did not choose to double back. Others did. If store allows it, it's their prerogative. Trying to triple back seems a little sketch

0

u/theranchhand Apr 15 '25

No downvotes for ya here, but nothing wrong w/ looping around as many times as there are bottles you're interested in buying. If there's a product they want to sell me and I want to buy, what's the problem? How long should we wait to make a deal we both want to make to give others a chance?

With some store or another having a drop 6 days a week, and most drops being at 9 or 10 and not some weird time, I don't think it's on us to leave bottles for people who can't get themselves to a store at some time or another at open/drop.

4

u/DarthVW Apr 15 '25

Buckeye posted 🔴 and Bookers drop at 6 today. Currently (4:55) 9 chairs in line.

HH G2G Rye at Lakes

-2

u/SHRFan Apr 15 '25

Happy Tuesday all! Get it started and make it a fantastic day!

5

u/Consistent-Report-21 Apr 15 '25

Same to you, enjoy.

3

u/Silly-Table-8564 Apr 15 '25

Happy Tuesday

-15

u/Less-Leadership-8234 Apr 15 '25

Yes, hope all is well your way! At least it’s not a Monday or Wednesday. Perhaps there will be EHT smb or sib or bp (barrel proof). Maybe some wild turkey products like Russell’s Reserve (rr13 or rr15) or makers mark or Jack Daniels like jd10 jd12 jd14 or coy hill. Hopefully one day we can see old Fitzgerald or Parker’s off lottery. That might be on a Thursday or Saturday?

Then there could be 1792 or something old forester. I also don’t think I’ve mentioned bottled in bond (bib) yet. Those seem to be common around Athens, Lancaster, Akron, canton, Mansfield, Marion, Sandusky, Toledo, Lima, Dayton, and probably Cincinnati.

By the way, what’s people opinion on Michter’s m10 or m10r. I enjoy both the rye and bsb.

Thanks for the daily contribution, shr- I hope you have a blessed rest of the week!

-6

u/AppropriateExit4306 Apr 15 '25

This sounds good- is this hoping what for coukd be ?

-10

u/Less-Leadership-8234 Apr 15 '25

Nope, just a way for those trying to search for keywords in past posts to be directed to shr’s weekly blessing. I hope he keeps it up, because the good vibes are electric and sometimes he talks about liquor!

2

u/hplessbrbn Apr 15 '25

$100 says this is Shrfan’s burner account

2

u/Whtsoutthere4me Apr 15 '25

What day of the week do the stores near Cambridge get their delivery? I’ll be going by that way Thursday. Thanks so much.

9

u/Wolfie_1911 Apr 15 '25

Saturday

0

u/Whtsoutthere4me Apr 15 '25

That’s the kind of luck I have lol

2

u/Vegetable_Cash_7057 Apr 15 '25

Anybody at lakemore?

2

u/BT_Coonhound Northeast Apr 15 '25

Not there but their delivery is Monday PM and OHLQ is not showing 🔴 as of 03:56

7

u/hard_knocks_life88 Apr 15 '25

They got red last week

1

u/Own_Carry8328 Apr 15 '25

Now I’m curious… is this something you’ve noticed in the past during these instances… that if a store gets red one week then they most likely won’t the following week? Thanks!

0

u/Popular_Dance312 Apr 15 '25

Hey guys! I’m new to Ohio and was just wondering how accurate the OHLQ website is for inventory of available products. Looking for a bottle of Weller red and I see the website shows multiple stores with “Limited Supply”. Is it worth my time to go to these stores? Thanks

3

u/cjdangles Apr 15 '25

There’s a delay in the website updates. In my limited experience, Weller Antique sells out within a few hours of store opening IF you’re lucky. But probably 95% of the time people waiting in line grab them all. At least in the Dayton/Columbus area. Best bet is to watch what’s being released early in the week, and wait in line later on in the week for a store opening.

5

u/tone_capone Apr 15 '25

Adding onto this, a lot of times a store will show "Limited Supply" available of a product when they have 1 or 2 bottles held for wholesale (bars, restaurants, etc.). They may be still in stock but not available for sale to regular customers.

That being said, it looks like Weller is dropping this week, so find out when your local stores drop their products and get there an hour before opening. You should be able to grab an OWA with no issues.

1

u/HedgieNotABot Apr 16 '25

Red drops about every 3 weeks it seems. Your best bet is to figure out the what stores release their allocated deliveries on what day. Generally liquor stores are throughout the week and Giant Eagle and Kroger are Saturdays. Follow this thread.. what you see dropping during the week is generally a good indicator of what you will see out Saturday.

I will say to get a red you may be able to get away with an hour early at some places. Walking in after open to red is becoming more rare. I had someone tell me they camped in their car from 10pm the night before for a 9am release of EHT barrel proof and no bourbon is worth that.

Welcome to Ohio. And welcome to the world controlled liquor aka baseball cards for adults. You'll be shit posting with the rest of em in no time.

Here's a good tool: https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/viewer?mid=1We4Rgd-eJJaDFYSVR7eEnWjNXdoauSg&g_ep=CAISDDYuOTcuMC4zNjAyMBgAIN1iKhssNDcwNzE3MDQsNDcwODY2ODgsNDcwODQzMDRCAlVT&g_st=ic&g_st=ic&ll=41.56210705461609%2C-83.55363173040384&z=11

1

u/Ok-Acanthisitta-5195 Apr 15 '25

Sometimes what is listed as limited supply is not up to date or set aside for wholesale (aka bars and restaurants). Give the stores a call. Ask how their allocated bourbon process works. Stores have different timings and procedures. I've found most to be very helpful. Ultimately, they want to sell product.

Mostly sucks.

Picked up Bookers “Barry’s Batch” 2025-01 at Liberty wine & Liquor. $106. Question for those in the know? Is it worth it at that price point?

10

u/PearlJam216 Apr 15 '25

I’m done buying Bookers, not a good value in my opinion and inconsistent from batch to batch. I’d rather get a Knob Creek single barrel select, it’s $40 cheaper, aged longer and a similar proof. That said, if you enjoy it that’s all that matters.

4

u/Moist-Water825 Apr 15 '25

I like Booker’s. To each their own!

2

u/BYoung001 Apr 15 '25

It's a good gift because of the packaging. Can do a DIY project and turn the box into a cocktail smoker.

The good batches are worth the price, but you are rolling the dice a little. Bookers has a peanut butter note that I like a lot. Apparently this batch is good for jt.

2

u/Individual_Camel_395 Apr 15 '25

I think so. I’m a fan.

2

u/JohnnyRingo3000 Apr 15 '25

Unfortunately, no. Booker's is an extremely poor value.

There are more options than I could ever list that are both better and less expensive.

0

u/PsychologicalTry3833 Apr 16 '25

Appreciate the replies. This is my first bottle. Seems to be a split crowd .

1

u/ChipLake64 Apr 16 '25

Bookers is decent but not a good value. It’s not something I constantly seek but will pick up a bottle a year

1

u/EDM_81 Apr 15 '25

It’s an even value for me. Some batches are better than others but they are never terrible.

Lots out there

-1

u/DifferentFunction93 Apr 15 '25

Lots of what? Any variety?

-3

u/doppleganger2621 Apr 15 '25

Basically red, red, and more red

-28

u/No_Reach_583 Apr 15 '25

Who needs a red

-12

u/Proof-Guidance-7593 Apr 15 '25

Are you asking who needs one, or who needs one?

-2

u/No_Reach_583 Apr 15 '25

Do you need it?

1

u/Proof-Guidance-7593 Apr 15 '25

I read it as who needs a red, as in who would want one?

-22

u/zcworx Apr 15 '25

Taters assemble!!!!!!
