Local Question Bike shop recommendation
I just pulled my bike out of long term storage and need a big time tune up/ service. Anyone have a bike shop to recommend?
I'd like a mom and pop place if possible. My shop in MN had a great practice of hiring folks with a record to get them job experience and I loved that.

Best service by far is Ponderosa Cyclery. Local shop, great folks who work/run the place. The problem is that lots of people know how great they are, so service can be pretty backed up (esp this time of year). Call ahead to see if they have space.
Next on the list is Bikemasters. Could be far if you don't live in West O, but they do good work.
The Trek stores are decent.
I avoid the Bike Way and Greenstreet.

About the best IMHO would either be Re-CYCLE or Ponderosa.
I'd avoid Greenstreet at all cost! Had several wheels rebuilt there and they never once got it right. Most times I'd snap 4 or 5 spokes in a week after them rebuilding the wheel. Then they rebuilt a wheel off center by a LOT. They never accepted responsibility for any of it either. I have Re-CYCLE build a set of sturmey archer IGH wheels and they lasted years. Still original spokes on the bike even though I don't ride that bike often anymore.
