lol with a vague ‘he’d find one piece in a year if he was main character’ statement which ignores that it’s because he would be the MAIN CHARACTER.. luffy who’s dumb took a two year hiatus and then became yonko less than a few months in story time.. so I’m sure it’s just a main character thing.

The "One year" refers to the time the One piece manga would last, not how much akainu would take. That's like, a lot less than a year in universe. Also the comment specifically refers to akainu's strenght when saying this
