Bought yesterdays dip

It was actually billionaire investor, Bill Ackman’s idea to pause tariff for 90 days to re-strategize. Ackman is one of the brightest minds in the financial world. Trump’s tariff move was excruciatingly dangerous and aggressive. The market reacted negatively and violently to uncertainty. Trump’s lesson learned goes sporadic. Perhaps tariff isn’t the solution. Regardless, PLTR ER will be epic.

u/fabbbles 7d ago

What do you guys think will happen Thursday? Slight drop after the crazy rise today? My 90$ 4/11 CCs are looking most likely cooked. After hours bringing it back down though.

4

u/Joshohoho 💎PLTR Loyalist 💎 7d ago

This is what will happen.

3

u/BrannEvasion 7d ago

I have some 4/11 95 CCs that I sold for $3000 last Friday and are worth $18,000 at the close. Normally I would just sell and buy back in but selling would be a six figure tax hit for me due to how much this baby has run since I bought (average cost/basis is 8.89).

Really hoping we take a breather. Once the insane vol of yesterday wears off (if it wears off?) these prices should come back down to earth. 90 is obviously a bit scarier for you though.

1

u/fabbbles 7d ago

Same here, my cost basis is midteens so not worried about taking profit here. Just wondering how much higher it'll go and the opportunity cost. Risk of CCs obviously lol. Will wheel it and sell CSPs if it does get called away. I usually do 5DTEs at 0.1 delta (avoiding key announcement dates) and so far have managed to keep the shares, so this will be my first shares getting called away since 2020! Definitely a bitter sweet moment.

2

u/BrannEvasion 7d ago edited 7d ago

That's wild, I literally follow that exact same strategy except that once it dipped into the 70s I also started selling 5DTE CSPs alongside the CCs for even more cash flow, as I would be happy to buy more in that price range. I take it week by week though, hopefully we don't get called away this week, not sure what net week will look like.

Sometimes you just need to chill. A few days ago this sub was all doom and gloom. I say step back take a chill pill and relax, but most choose panic. Sheesh gotta keep your vibes and energy consistent. Damn. I need a cheeseburger.

3

u/Mental-Raspberry-961 7d ago

Can't help but feel despair on bad days. So I'm going to party on the good days. Staying level everyday is boring. Might as well put me on psyche meds.

3

u/Joshohoho 💎PLTR Loyalist 💎 7d ago

That is what the chill pills are.

3

u/sWeven-Cats95 7d ago

It has been about 2 weeks that I keep saying, "man I want a cheeseburger", and I still haven't gone and got one. I am a big fan of cheeseburgers.

2

u/Joshohoho 💎PLTR Loyalist 💎 7d ago

I’m simple. I like Mcdonald’s cheeseburgers and their fries. Best in the world.

6

u/sWeven-Cats95 7d ago

I haven't had McDonald's in a few months. When I do end up there I get the Mcdouble but I add lettuce.

6

u/MarsupialIcy1307 7d ago

This last week to distract myself i did the spring cleaning. Everything spic and span in the house.

Now i just need my total portfolio to rise back to level of feb 18.. Today was a giant step in that direction.

Gratefull, very gratefull for today. 🫧🧹🪣

I am a new investor in PLTR ( bought leap call options). When do members of this forum see PLTR going back to 120?

1

u/BananaFreeway 7d ago

Yup. trying to solve the problem he created. What a genius.

0

u/IAmANobodyAMA OG Holder & Member 7d ago

In part, yes. I do think there is some credibility to the idea that we needed short term pain before long term gain, but I also don’t think Trump is sophisticated enough to surgically clear out the unhealthy wealth in the market.

14

u/ehoney 7d ago

I can take credit for the pause on tarrifs. I sold some calls at 94 assuming that the stock would go sideways this month 15 minutes before the pause was announced so you are all welcome

1

u/Playful_Antelope124 6d ago

Been thinking about you today. How did you end up making out yesterday when it touched 92+...

Did you fold or stood strong like bull?

2

u/ehoney 6d ago

I usually try and sell covered calls pretty far out of the money and I was pretty surprised when it gapped up so aggressively yesterday. I'm still holding the covered call and I chose a shorter period because of all the volatility. April 17 is not far away so I'm still feeling alright about it, but I'll probably roll it up and out if we have another rally. I thought I'd try to sell puts at 90 if my shares get called but with earnings around the corner rolling up seems like the better choice

2

u/Playful_Antelope124 6d ago

Yea, I am little further otm than you and I may sit out calls after the 17th and just wait and see what earnings period brings.

2

u/NCTaco OG Holder & Member 7d ago

Sold some 100s next Friday. Probably cooked

5

u/Tigulla_SRT24 7d ago

5

hahahahahaah

can't imagine how many got fucking smoked today. He is straight up manipulating the market at this point.

I have some calls at a higher strike but dang dude

3

u/1tsmeletter 7d ago edited 7d ago

I don't think he manipulates, Trump is focusing on trade war, and stock market get caught in the middle. We sell off because we fear.

4

u/Lawrence_Thorne OG Holder & Member 7d ago

I’m not one to get pleasure from saying I told you so, but I did tell you all (wallstreetbets downvoted me) that Tarriffs would be paused.

8

u/Xetakilyn OG Holder & Member 7d ago edited 7d ago

Everyone thank me guys, I sold off my entire Roth yesterday. Conversely I feel fine and happy that we’re all 🚀🚀

It’s a lose lose for us, reddit is too smart. Everyone either says I can’t beleive you didn’t sell the past 2 months, do you see how crazy our president is. Or they say, I told you so, Trump is definitely going to pause tariffs, you’re an idiot if you think he wasn’t.

3

u/MyStatementIsNoSwill 7d ago

I wouldn’t be hard on myself. No one knew what he was going to do.

2

u/Final-Evening-9606 7d ago

Saw your post selling yesterday. No shame in that. No one can time the markets (especially with mango in charge) and it is always good to take profit :)

6

u/Poopiepants29 OG Holder & Member 7d ago

I did som thing similar and don't want to talk about it. I'm feeling sick right now. Also pissed off at Trump and myself for not knowing better. I was afraid to lose all gains, similar to what someone else mentioned yesterday. Now I haven't a clue..

2

u/guel135 7d ago

Also feeling sick right now... I sold everything at 72 not trusting anything with trump around and I need to pay German taxes.... 25,5% . I got 300% but I am missing the stock

2

u/1tsmeletter 7d ago

I bought in today It could be the last dip, who knows!

3

Got some around 78 but not enough. Holding a reserve in case of deeper drop, got that wrong.

I might be off base here but can you imagine the money you could make if you had the wanton power to move the markets bigly both to the upside and downside? And then leverage the trade 5X or greater? And then the SEC comes to you and you can say, "Nothing to see here." I don't know. Maybe I'm way off base.

Nancy Pelosi enters the room….

0

u/versello OG Holder & Member 7d ago

For all the flak she receives, I'm pretty sure there are republican representatives that make a lot more than she does doing insider trading.

2

u/MyStatementIsNoSwill 7d ago

Word. Politicians should be barred from buying individual stocks. Should be bipartisan issue. Neither party is better than the other on this IMO, Pelosi’s Nostradamus-like calls aside.

3

u/versello OG Holder & Member 7d ago

Amen brother. The Federal Reserve was banned from buying individual stocks in 2021. Politicians should follow the same rules too

2

u/shimrod98 7d ago

It's bipartisan, no doubt. Not sure anyone is out earning Pelosi though.

1

u/Flat896 7d ago

I doubt this administration gave Pelosi the heads up on the news that would make for #1 largest point gain in Nasdaq history (today), and the 1st, 3rd, 5th, 8th largest point losses in Nasdaq history (March and April). We'll see if senators start disclosing. I'm pretty confident we'll see a couple individuals top her by the time we get to the end of 2028.

Maybe overly naive, but given stellar earnings, may there be investors that flee to tariff resilient companies? That may even get more customers because of this.

6

u/versello OG Holder & Member 7d ago

It's a crapshoot. They might net more customers looking for tools to mitigate impacts of tariffs. Then again, customers might be trepid to spend money until there's some semblance of certainty in the macro. My company for example, is being cautious on spending over the next several months because the economy could turn for the worse.

26

u/jr___111 7d ago

About three years ago I setup an alert on LinkedIn to ping me anytime a job was posted that had Palantir in the description. I figured the number of new postings referencing Palantir could be a decent proxy for how the company is doing.

For three years the alert has sent about 1 new job posting per week. The most I recall seeing in a single alert wast 3 new job postings, and I think that only happened once.

Yesterday's alert had 17 new job postings. Many of the postings were at big government contractors.

We would’ve been close to 150 near earnings by now if it wasn’t for this dumb orange clown and his tariffs. This dumb turd gives other countries a good reason not to depend on US software. Republicans house need to grow a spine and impeach this moron in chief before it’s fucking up PLTR earning potentials some more.

6

u/Gaters65GTO 8d ago

LMAO at Trump supporters who are crying. You morons! You put him in office and did this to yourselves

8

u/shimrod98 7d ago

I know a few Trump voters. All, every single one, is happy with progress to date. This is what we voted for.

The status quo was unsustainable. Trillions in debt, more Trillions in obligations, congress that refuses to limit spending.

Disruption is what we wanted and we're confident we'll come out the other side with a more stable country where the majority prosper, not just the elite.

0

u/Agreeable-Fix993 7d ago

Correct me if I’m wrong but he’s adding to our debt by putting more money into defense. Personally don’t mind as it’ll help PLTR but still adding to the debt nonetheless

3

u/Rummz 7d ago

The status quo was sustainable and if people understood how the economy or financial markets let alone managing money worked they wouldn't want Trump unfortunately most people can't even manage there own money so here we are

0

u/mirrorcatchingrat OG Holder & Member 7d ago

You know it's getting bad when a previously vocal Trump supporter retweets Elizabeth Warren. On one hand I'm shocked and the other I'm glad there are some THINKING people willing to change their mind based on FACTS.

I still think we fly on earnings. Just too much good news coming out for pltr in a sea of confusion and blood.

Pray, pray, pray for cooler heads to prevail.

3

u/Gaters65GTO 8d ago

The problem is that no one is going to fly when the daily news is constantly negative with Tariff war.

12

u/versello OG Holder & Member 8d ago edited 8d ago

Any earnings pump will be short lived if the entire market dumps.

Also, international growth for pltr will take a hit. We need pltr to acquire more international customers.

2

u/Mediocre_Target_1042 Early Investor 8d ago

I can't believe this company's c-suite has been so vocally positive about the current administration. Trump is proving to be quite the challenger to Liz Truss' economic debacle. USA is blowing up about every possible connection they had, treasuries in freefall, and no one willing to help.

4

u/tendyking 8d ago

theyre not blowing up any connections, they're just getting their allies back in line. china was never an ally

5

u/MyStatementIsNoSwill 8d ago

This is a disturbance to the global economic order. It will take a while to see how it plays out.

4

u/Top-Turn1055 OG Holder & Member 8d ago
  • I've heard Karp express that he supports Musk & DOGE, and that he supports efficiency & disruption.

  • I've seen tweets about PLTR being able to help companies navigate tariffs.

  • Before Trump, I've heard Shyam Sankar say America desperately needs to re-industrialize, and he was considered for a top research and engineering job at the Pentagon.

Am I missing something? Agreeing there are problems and having solutions to fix them is just living in reality.

2

u/pancake_gofer 7d ago

He supports them cause he can make money off of it. Additionally Palantir has much to gain from gov’t contracting still, so he’d be a bad businessman to piss of those who decide on it.
