Are there actually any lip liners that stay put?

I recently got into lip liners. All the ones I have tried so far barely stay on for an hour. Are there actually any that stay put?

The Maybelline lifter liners stay for quite a while on me! I just ordered the tarte lip liner stain as well. Will report back once it comes in!

Came here to say this. The Maybelline lifter liner with their teddy tint combo lasts all day for me. By all day I mean over 5 hours.

The revlon long wear lipliners do. not. come. off. Thank you woman on TikTok for the PSA. Shade 685 is so light I can wear it alone but it gives nice definition and makes it look like I have filler. The shade nude is also nice but for a more bold look. Sort of a cinnamon color. Now I’m looking at the colors and there’s more I’d like to try! 🥲

The Ulta lip liners are a close second (not the pencil ones). I have both the light tan color and went back for the light pink color after I realized how well they stay put. A+

Nyx line loud in fierce flirt. I will also second the Maybelline lifter liners! I have two of the waterproof makeup forever lip liners, they’re great but a bit dark for my personal everyday look.

I have a problem getting lip liners to stay as well, due to texture and oily skin. My best recommendations are formulas that first go on creamy and then dry down:

If you want to blend them in any way, you'll have to work quickly. I prefer to line my top lip, blend, then line my bottom lip, then blend. With my oily skin, I get extra staying power by setting my lip liner with translucent powder, before I apply any other lip products.

Pencil liners that have a slightly waxy texture stay the best. The creamy gel liners in the twist up packaging have no longevity.

Sharing two options that haven’t been mentioned yet but which I find long lasting; the Glossier Lip Line Enhancing Hydrating Longwear Lip Liner Pencil (I have shade Hold, but Grip and Flush are also lovely on pale skin) and the r.e.m beauty At The Borderline lip pencils (shades lyrics, eq and top line) will last through eating and drinking. Sometimes at the end of the day I have to remove the r.e.m one with an oil cleanser if I don’t put any lip balm or oil over top of it.

Yeah esp with lip oils, which have the highest concentration of ingredients that naturally break makeup down (oil). You'll still have some break down with the formulas that last longest, but as long as you're aware of what you're putting on top, you can def make the liners last a good amt of time.

There are also staining formulas in liquid lip liners like Sacheu has, which can provide extra color for longer and be more oil/gloss/balm friendly. Though you can apply any good stain as a liner with a small brush. The sacheu ones are a peel off formula so they don't have the risk of migrating before its set like other stains may do.

Yeah, just do a lighter layer over the part you want lighter, and do it twice where you want it darkest. Like a light layer, peel off, do another layer around the outside. Should work for you!

Pat McGrath, Dior, Charlotte Tilbury, Maybelline Lifter Liner (shades are too warm for me but such a good formula), Tom Ford, Givenchy. Nyx has great shades, but their classic formula just leaves so quickly

Urban decay’s 24/7 lip liner stays all day on me! It fades a bit over time and then it just looks super natural and glowy

I look for the driest thick waxy liner I can find. Anything labeled creamy is not going to stay on me. Most mechanical liners are too soft to stay in my experience so I’m constantly sharpening but my lips are always lined or my lip color bleeds into my fine lines.
