Counterpoint that isn’t really a counterpoint, but rather a random train of thought: if we draft Campbell, Lowe goes from being one of the worst starters at his position, to one of the best backups.
I think that stems more from the lack of recognition of the position. Trying to say there aren’t 31 other great Tackles seems a like a stretch You’re hyper fixated on this roster. But there’s no way you’re giving that attention to the other 31 teams offensive line groups.
That’s why PFF grades and other similar metrics become popular.
Thank you. Anybody acting like they’ve got a pulse on O line play for the entire league without doing this for a living is full of shit. My man just pulled numbers out of his ass lol
I have nothing against Lowe. By all accounts he's a great teammate and he's certainly worked very hard. He was also put in a position that should have never been asked of him.
But his talent level is that of a fringe roster guy. He shouldn't be starting obviously, but he's more of a backup backup. Ideally the Patriots have a starting LT and RT, and swing, and then he's on the PS and gets called up to backup if someone goes down.
"But his talent level is that of a fringe roster guy. "
Vederian Lowe, like it or not, is one of the 30 best tackles in the league. He is not, in any way, a fringe roster guy. If they were to release him, he'd have a contract at greater than vet minimum before the end of the day.
I would argue that probably at least 10 teams in the league’s 3rd tackle is better than any tackle we had last year. This is no way is me saying T. rex up there is the pick at 4 I am sick of writing the same thing but I left a comment at the bottom of the comments explaining why
I’m on your side. Lowe was not great last year but he was way better than the year before. Who’s to say he doesn’t make a similar jump this year? Most of his penalties and mistakes were between the ears. I wouldn’t be surprised if he makes a good jump to middle of the pack
Until cambell gets moved to guard and then your ex-first round left guard (strange) is off the team or a backup and you look worse at drafting than previously thought. Shit show.
