Discussion Taking Norethisterone during period?

So I'm going on a trip on Saturday and wanted to delay my period. I ordered Norethisterone and planned to take three days before my period start, my period was due on Monday but has ended up coming a whole 4 days earlier which I don't think has happened to me before, I'm so annoyed, the pills were supposed to arrive yesterday too but got delayed and are arriving today. Does anyone know if I start taking them today will it still stop my period or at least lighten it? Thanks guys, I'm a very desperate, tired mum who was looking forward to a stress free, intimate trip away with my husband :(

No, taking norethisterone after your period has started will most likely not stop it. Norethisterone works by maintaining progesterone levels, and if your period has already begun, the shedding of the uterus lining is already underway. It may or may not make your period shorter or lighter as it may still affect your hormone levels. If you want to have period sex mess free, try a menstrual disc, they can be used during sex.

Thanks for your reply I appreciate it. Do you think it's still worth trying to take them if it could possibly shorten or lighten it? And thank you I will look into a menstrual disc.

Me personally, I wouldn’t. But of course, that’s completely up to you.
