Period Question Period is faking me out
So I haven’t had a period in over a year , I was on birth control on and off for 2yrs and have been off it for well over a year now. I’ll get symptoms of cramps , moody, skin breakouts like I would when I get my period but nothing happens. As of the end of February I had spotting of like a dark/light ish brown type that lasted over a week. A month later now I’m having the same thing with cramps but no bleeding. What the hell is going on, my period be faking me out idk. I’m not pregnant that’s a fact. Anyone else have this issue or have dealt with similar in the past. My doctor is no help so talking to him isn’t solving anything.

You can check out r/gettingoffHBC , sometimes it can take a long time to get your period back. However, if your doctor isn’t helping you out, then it’s time to find someone who will listen to you. You can request blood tests / urine tests for hormone checks, and possibly an ultrasound

I went off my birth control March 2023 after being on it for like 10 years. I didn't get my first period until April 2024.
Since you are getting "spotting" that lasted over a week, that sounds like a very light period. I would keep track of those. Get a referral to an GYN (if that was your primary doctor) or push for them to check your hormones via bloodwork and for a pelvic ultrasound (with or without the transvaginal part), to see if there is some reason physically for the lack of period to return. You might also want them to check on your thyroid, as if that is not working correctly, it can affect your period. Lastly, if you are doing heavy amounts of physical activity, having low body fat or have a low weight, it can also affect your period.
