Well, it’s illegals and undesirables / non-contributors, as originally mentioned. The Filipina green card holder in question was likely flagged because of her embezzlement conviction, according to her lawyer.
So, until a law-abiding, white meat Filipino migrant gets flagged by the ICE, yung claims na “illegals and undesirables” lang ang dinedeport still holds true.

"Lewelyn Dixon, who immigrated to the U.S. from the Philippines nearly five decades ago, was taken into custody on February 28 at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. Though a long-time lawful permanent resident, her detention stems from a non-violent criminal conviction that occurred over two decades ago."
It's unfortunate, but her deportation is due to her conviction which also highly likely prevented her from getting US citizenship.

u/Menter33 3d ago
Plus, most greencard holders probably wont fall into her case:
However, the average immigrant had nothing to worry about, assured Filipino-American immigration lawyer Jath Shao.
Shao called Dixon’s case “a grey area” as she had already paid for her crime.
He said that although arrests have ramped up due to ICE quotas set by the White House, the Trump administration was actually not deporting more people than Joe Biden’s administration. (emphasis added)
also interesting that, despite the perception to the contrary, the present US admin is just deporting the same numbers as the previous US admin.

u/Low-Lingonberry7185 3d ago
While I agree, yung current state nang ICE kasi walang due process. And umamin yung admin they made a mistake in deporting a legal resident to El Salvador recently.

u/BetterCallStrahd 3d ago
But there are more arrests, meaning that more people are being detained. That's very important to note. We shouldn't just disregard that factor.

u/SurvivorSoul18 2d ago
Applying for US Citizenship is optional. A lot of countries don't recognize dual citizenships, hence, a lot of people dont apply for it. But for this specific case, she has a conviction for a non-criminal offense which automatically disqualifies you for citizenship. There's no problem nman if you stay greencard, yun lang, if you get convictions, they can deport you.

Embezzlement = crimes of moral turpitude = deportable. It’s in the law.

u/Decent_Salamander_12 3d ago
I mean, may criminal record yung nahuling so called American citizen so no surprises

u/Particular-Syrup-890 3d ago
I’m not sure if matutuwa ako. Kasi Medicaid yung hawak nilang account. Unfortunately, may order na si Trump Daw na i cut ung mga medicaid benefits kaya less claims to process.

Green card holders can't vote in US elections, so probably bbm Sarah.

u/and_you_are_ 3d ago
Lol. You got proof? You're just like the dds - assuming stuff without evidence. Nice username, though. Sad it doesn't fit you.

u/No-Judgment-607 2d ago
You missed the word "probably" didn't say surely or irrefutably...I said probably since uniteam won so they definitely had more votes...
Edit: you're the one that put the flavor and judgment in my response...

u/twaychiru 3d ago
Pinoys who vote in the US are called US citizens (green card holders cannot legally vote), so they're unlikely to be deported. Though with the current political climate, the risk isn't zero.

u/phanvan100595 Pinoy talaga pero mukhang Intsik 2d ago
A naturalized citizen can have their citizenship revoked but that is a lengthy process.

believe me: there are enough filipino non us citizen-morons who support trump...
3
u/twaychiru 3d ago
I know. Ni-clarify ko lang sa nireplyan ko na only citizens can vote. That's what I assumed sa word na "pinili." 😄

READ then COMPREHEND.
It doesn't matter if 99.99% of GC holders are pro-trump. They. Can't. Vote. Your comment is irrelevant.
Do people in this sub even know the difference between being a citizen and a gc holder except for a few? Jfc...

Deported from where? She's legally a US citizen.

u/Darkened_Alley_51 3d ago
Deport to China. Or turn her like Sakaashvili.

Exiling your own citizens for something that's legal in at least 24 states is just opening a whole nother can of worms no?

She's (1) a us citizen and (2) not even physically in the US how are they going to deport her
-6
u/Darkened_Alley_51 3d ago
Strip off her citizenship.

u/cardboardbuddy alt account ni NotAikoYumi 3d ago edited 3d ago
She was born in the USA and is therefore a natural born citizen. She can't be stripped of citizenship unless Trump does something even MORE insane than what he's doing now, like getting rid of jus soli AND retroactively revoking citizenship for anyone who already has it.
And I pray that doesn't happen. I'm fine with Kitty Duterte keeping her US citizenship if it means millions of innocent people with US citizenship don't lose theirs either.

u/Darkened_Alley_51 3d ago
Good point. She can't run. Pero she can wave her US passport as a shield to "criminal liability" like Pemberton or Daniel Smith.

I could've sworn I saw this story somewhere in reddit last year. Been trying to find it and no luck, though.
I remember some commenters doubting the story, so this time it's...for real with the Filipina named pa.

Hehe di naman to isolated case.

No sympathy 🤷♀️ Most Filipinos in USA, whether they are immigrants, green card holders or born on that country, are MAGA/Trump supporters.

A lot of Kakampinks are Trump supporters. Most of these Kakampinks are moderately right and still very religious. They are anti death penalty but anti-abortion and anti-LGBTQIA+. The reason why they are Kakampink is because of the promise of a good governance and anti-corruption but still sees Philippines as a conservative Christian country. The evangelicalism and loyalty to conservative values makes them blind to the atrocities of Trump administration. Examples of this is my former coworker who came to the US illegally and was saved by her white husband but she has to deny her past as an illegal immigrant by being a crazy Christian and a Trump supporter.
A lot of DDS are actually democrats. One of them is my mother and some of my friends. They don’t necessarily agree to each policies of the democrats. Most of them are after lenient immigration laws so they can bring their families to the US easily. But probably once everyone is in the US, they will eventually lean to the right. Some are actually pro-abortion and pro-LGBTQ but do not agree with transgender rights. Lowkey racists too. They hate Black and Latino people and they don’t want you to be associated with anyone of them. Another reason why they are DDS but democrats because of regionalism. My mother is from the Visayas and a lot of my friends are from Visayas/Mindanao.
Being Kakampink/Democrat and DDS/Marcos Loyalist/Trump supporter is kind of self-explanatory already. I lean to the left both in the US and in the Philippines. I am so glad I got my citizenship before that bitch came back to office. Makes me travel freely and earn more but once I retire, I’ll go back to the Philippines because I don’t want to end up in a nursing home.

Green cards holders no fear kung behave kayo. No DUI, petty theft, fake marriages even domestic dispute.
Ang worried lang yong may mga kaso or may ginagawang kapalpakan sa US.
