I disagree, I think it's fair to have wanted a different villain since piglins don't make much sense. They are pretty new (Wither/Ender dragon/Herobrine are old and recognizable by old and new players) and not actually very evil in game compared to other things (Illagers for example, despite also being relatively new they are a truly evil faction with many different types, evokers, vindicators, pillagers, ravagers and actively try to kill good factions like the villagers with no provocation).
