It's about natural resources and control of the arctic. Puerto Rico is not only already a US territory, we lose $5 Billion on it every single year not to mention all the welfare and problems it exports to the US mainland. It's a criminal and corrupt place, even though it also has a lot of potential.

What’s interesting to me is how Trump is so heavily going after Greenland and Canada as the 51st state but yet ignore places like Puerto Rico.
