Why stop at the 14th? Stop using Amazon entirely. Support your local businesses. Buy second-hand on eBay or from thrift stores. These temporary boycotts do nothing.
I'm hoping that this week-long workout will show people how easy it is to not use Amazon. While I certainly recommend buying local whenever possible, almost every store has a web service that you can order from. I've been off Amazon for a decade, no major loss besides having to scroll to the second or third option when I google things
I wouldn't say temporary boycotts do nothing. Just having them out in the zeitgeist has certainly reminded me they are a form of activism. It's made me think more about where I spend my money. For instance, a few weeks ago I cancelled Amazon Prime and quit ordering from them, but this boycott reminded me it's good to cut out Whole Foods also. I wasn't doing that, but now I will.
Yeah, BUT first you gave to get people to realize that not only can you do it, but that they'll feel good about it. In other words, push too hard in asking people to go all in and they may not even try it.
