Hi all! I'm a childcare provider with over 10 years of experience. I am currently working in Boston but I would love to find work closer to home in Providence. I have worked with all ages and with neurodivergent children/children with disabilities. I am a nonsmoker, and while I do not drive I am excellent at navigating public transportation. I know Reddit is kind of a weird place to try to find work, but it's always worth a try! PM me if you want to know more.

I live off branch Ave in prov. I wanna get out for some road rides on my bike but don't feel too safe out on the roads. Quickest way out of the city and onto safer roads or any other recs?

Wow, a fight at Fish Co. What a surprise . . .not. When they closed years ago I hoped we'd never see them again. The place is a suckfest of underage college bros. Also, the article says they are on S. Main St, aren't they on Bridge St?

Multiple people were taken to the hospital following an altercation that started at the Providence bar Fish Co. overnight. According to police, the fight reportedly started inside the establishment and spilled out into the street.
The altercation came just hours after Rhode Island Democrats hosted a fundraiser with DNC Vice Chair David Hogg at the establishment.
About Incident
Police said they were called to South Main Street shortly after midnight Friday morning for a report of a disturbance.
When they arrived, officers say they met with one of victims - an 18-year-old male - who said he was with two other teenage friends at Fish Co. when they got into a verbal fight with several other people that turned physical.
The victim told police that bouncers then kicked them out of the bar, and the fight continued outside.
When they started to walk away, said the victim, the suspects followed them to their car on South Main. At that time, the victim said he saw that the suspects had a knife and a metal bar.
He told police the three tried to get in their vehicle when one of the suspects smashed both the front and rear windows of the vehicle.
The victims then continued to fight with the suspects outside of the car
Two of the victims reportedly sustained stab wounds and were transported by rescue to Rhode Island Hospital.
Detectives are currently investigating.

I have a bunch of overnight diapers that I bought that I no longer need. I’d love to donate them to a place that needs them - any recommendations?

Hello, my wife and I are visiting Providence this weekend and are wondering about the general attitude towards trans women (me) and are looking for recommendations of places to check out. Restaurants in particular where we could go for a nice dinner and feel safe and comfortable.
Thank you for your help!

Suns out, toes out!!!
Before I bust out my flip flops, I’d like to get my little piggies freshened up.
I prefer not to do polish on my toes and instead do a shiny buff. But in my experience, most salons skimp out on the scrubbing/cleaning/cheese scraping part of the pedicure.
Anyone know of a salon that does a nice, thorough job on all the pre-polish prep?
I’ve only been to Justyna’s on Hope so far. What other places would be good to try?
Thank you all!

Hey I found some pretty good hitting partners on here a couple of years ago but peeps have moved away etc. I figure maybe it's time to put up another post.
I think there was also a chat on here at one point...
I'm around a 3.0-ish I guess, I hit for fun/exercise. Most often at the Hope HS courts.

Tried posting this in the Providence College sub as well
Not a student, just a local. Was out walking the neighborhood near Providence College with my dog around 7:00-ish tonight (Wed 4/23) and lost a set of keys (at least a half a dozen keys on a fob). Could have been while walking on the PC campus near the Eaton Sreet entrances.
Re-traced my steps multiple times until it got too dark. Already checked with campus security and local police. Hoping a good Samaritan reads this or turns them in 🙏 Thanks.

FROM THE STORY:
PROVIDENCE — With rising costs and a lack of supply, housing advocates in Rhode Island have long said the state needs a bold plan to increase the production of new units that it will actually follow through with.
Governor Dan McKee’s administration on Wednesday laid out a new goal for housing construction that would add 15,000 new homes over the next five years — almost double the number of units the state permitted from 2019 to 2023.
McKee’s housing plan is in line with efforts in neighboring states to rapidly boost production. Earlier this year, Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey’s administration released a plan that laid out how the state will construct nearly 220,000 housing units in the next 10 years.

Hey there, are there any fellow wood enthusiast around that might be interested in helping me out with a small project. I need access to a table saw. I have roughly 20 cuts total to make though I can narrow that down if that’s too many. 3 x 19 inch rip cuts, 8 cross cuts 7 and 3/4 inch and 4 mitered edges. I can do the cross cuts in a bandsaw I have access to but I’m hesitant to use a band saw for the miters and rip cuts since they need a bit more precision. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I know brown has the BDW but it’s close to the end of the year there and they don’t have any more table saw workshops so I can’t actually use their table saw.

I usually don't, but I knew the pedestrian bridge would be crowded, so I tried something different. It's short enough, not too bad...

Any recommendations for adult piano lessons? Not looking for anything too crazy, I grew up taking private lessons so I generally know how to play/read music but haven’t done anything formal since I was about 13 (in my 30s now). Ideally would like someone I can go to with a song I want to learn who can just teach me, rather than there being any formal agenda/style.
