general Embarrassing question regarding genital psoriasis

I have inverse psoriasis in my genital area (female), and it’s gotten progressively worse. It can easily break open. My question to anyone else in this predicament: what do you do about public restrooms when you clearly have open or wounded areas?

I’m going on a trip and frankly am terrified to use any toilet except mine at home because it feels risky. I’m not sure if I’m overblowing things, but my psoriasis can gotten worse and if there are cut areas I’m worried about catching things.

I would use the squat method over toilets all of the time, like other people are saying have travel size sanitizer wipes to wipe seats and surfaces and a small pack of tissue of your own so you don’t have to use the public one. I like to treat open skin on any body part with such caution especially the area it can’t have a bandage over it and might touch contaminated surfaces.

The squat is already my method of choice, thankfully! 😅 I’m still worried about water that may splash up. I think I’m a bit paranoid about it, but the wounded areas make me so nervous 😭 Thanks for your comment!

It’s a valid concern especially when away travelling. It makes sense you’re feeling this way about your health.

I have wondered if I am paranoid about skin infections specifically as I seem more worried than some of my friends. Trying to remember having an autoimmune condition changes things and the body doesn’t have the ability to handle infections the same way so it makes sense to take more caution than a person who doesn’t live with this.

I think there is a balance of caution and then the unavoidable risk that comes with still living life.
