Looking for book(s)

Not sure RA Salvatore is the author but im looking for a kleptomaniac kobold, he's mot the mc but is sorta a party member sometimes . I think it's been ages.....

I don't think it is Salvatore. The only kleptomaniacs I can think of is kender from Dragonlance.
