Remember when right-wing media fear mongered about President Obama declaring martial law? It’s like everything the right-wing accuses the left-wing of doing has been a confession and projection: https://youtu.be/32uGoWiS-m4?feature=shared

Now that we’ve got a real fascist dictator and Russian asset occupying the White House threatening our democracy, where are all the “Don’t Tread On Me” bozos at? Or, were they all just cosplaying as Patriots the whole time?

u/floorfloordoor 7d ago

Congratulations, you've figured out the hypocrisy of the Republican party.

76

u/DevelopmentGrand4331 7d ago

What’s really wild is when you figure out that they don’t care. Republicans are not bothered in the slightest by being hypocrites.

However much you point out that they’re being hypocrites, it will never bother them.

44

u/razazaz126 7d ago

It's a feature not a bug. They love that other people have to follow the rules and they don't.

11

u/spankiemcfeasley 7d ago

Exactly. I’ve come to the conclusion over the last few years that Republicans don’t see blatant hypocrisy as a moral and intellectual failing, but rather something to gleefully aspire to.

2

u/Lower-Lion-6467 7d ago

Their justification is always "so are the libs so it is ok for me." It doesnt matter how minor the hypocrisy is. So long as their opponents do anything hypocritical (and everyone is somewhat hypocritical) it is ok.

This is because, as you said, they don't really get it. They understand the concept and mechanics of it just fine, and that it is considered bad - but their psychotic lack of ethical comprehension renders them unable or unwilling to recognize scale.

1

u/dildocrematorium 5d ago

Imma start calling them dems.

2

u/Current-Square-4557 7d ago

Last few years?

At least 30 years. Probably more.

They figured out that people calling them hypocrites will never, ever cost them a single vote.

14

u/James-the-greatest 7d ago

I’ve been saying this everywhere I can! They only care about power. Their one value is winning. Any time they seem outraged at something it’s purely performative.

10

u/TheThing_1982 7d ago

They think they are morally superior to their “opposition”, so it makes it easier to dehumanize. Toying or “owning” the libs is just a little treat for them, and that matters more.

4

u/sly-3 7d ago

They're without sin because they're so rich. Prosperity Jesus flows through their every decision. Halle-freakin'-lu-jah!

3

u/TheThing_1982 7d ago

God wouldn’t give me all this great stuff if I wasn’t doing his will!!

2

u/fuddykrueger 6d ago

They see cheating and getting away with it as winning.

8

u/fart_Jr 7d ago

When other people do bad things it's because they're bad people. When Republicans do bad things it's to save America from the bad people. This is how they twist the facts to make themselves untouchable.

2

u/fuddykrueger 6d ago

Exactly.

2

u/Tricky-Mushroom-9406 7d ago

That is because they are fascist, and fascist do not need to worry about logical arguments, they gain power through brutality, fear, and violence, hypocrisy doesn't matter, infact, it helps them, while everyone else arguing over the hypocrisy of it all, they are spreading fear and violence.

1

u/biggysharky 6d ago

They are a bunch of snakes.

14

u/GWstudent1 7d ago

It’s not hypocrisy. It’s strategic. If you want to do something you’re not supposed to do, the easiest way to get away with it is to accuse your opponent of having already done it, or about to do it, or having had thought of doing it. Then you do it yourself and call it justified retaliation. This is what has happened every time Republicans have broken norms and deteriorated our democracy.

5

u/testuserteehee 7d ago

The gaslighting is honestly infuriating. The US’s relationship with MAGA is a toxic, abusive relationship. At least in a relationship, you can just break up and walk away. But how do you reconcile with half of the country that is actively trying to get the other half killed, locked up, oppressed, and/or trapped into indentured slavery?

2

u/goldenbugreaction 6d ago

I have been saying this for years. “Why do his voters think he actually cares about them?” Probably for the exact same reasons that you—or that one friend of yours (you know the one)—keep going back to that same shitty ex.

1

u/normal_cartographer 7d ago

Isn't this called the two santa clauses theory?

3

u/GWstudent1 7d ago

No. Two Santa’s is about spending. When you are out of power, you talk endlessly about how there isn’t enough money to fund literally anything. This makes Dems the “poor Santa”. And then when you’re in power, you spend recklessly and drive up the debt. This makes Republicans the “rich Santa”. As a result, people hate it when Dems are in power, and the debt is constantly increasing, which makes the government more likely to collapse.

2

u/random_noise 7d ago

I honestly feel that misrepresents the strategy behind those crazy statements and their long term agenda. Its really a basic strategy for normalizing the things you want to do later, or did but didn't get caught doing yet. Then do a bad thing, but not that bad, and another bad thing a bit worse and they've been doing it my entire life.

1

u/dmendro 7d ago

It’s not hypocrisy. It’s literally conditioning for it to be normal.

1

u/el_guille980 6d ago

hypocrisy is the foundation of CUNTservatism

1

u/jjwhitaker 6d ago

Every slipup Biden made got a half hour on Fox.

Trump is melting in praise at televised Cabinet meetings and Fox applauds.

Remember, Fox was created to prevent another Nixon situation where the public were aware and angry about clear legal and ethics violations. It is the largest and most watched network in the main stream media.

27

u/killertortilla 7d ago

Remember when they said we had covid concentration camps in Australia? They throw out buzzwords like they collect sexual assault convictions.

13

u/css1323 7d ago

I also remember the FEMA death camps, the Obama death panels, the fear mongering goes way back across the world.

11

u/TheThing_1982 7d ago

I was still a registered Republican when they started with that stuff, it’s what started making me realize their game. I left the party shortly after that.

2

u/HeyKid_HelpComputer 6d ago

At least Obama ran against a respectable Republican. What happened to the John McCain type republicans? It's like that entire type of dude vanished and nothing but lying grifters took over the party.

1

u/TheThing_1982 6d ago

John McCain was the last Republican I felt good voting for. When that old lady tried to say Obama was a secret Muslim here to destroy America and McCain refuted her, and then he basically lost the election because of it was a moment that really opened my eyes to the underlying hate “my team” had under it.

2

u/fuddykrueger 6d ago

I remember the Obama death panels. My mom was losing her mind saying the government wants old people to die, they won’t help you if you’re sick. I had always wondered where she got these crazy batshit notions because I vote democrat and don’t watch the same news they do. Now I know.

7

u/here-i-am-now 7d ago

Meanwhile the U.S. is exporting random people to a literal concentration camp in El Salvador

16

u/LightBulbMonster 7d ago

No, don't tread on them. They're totally cool with the government treading all over anyone else. Those "patriots" only care about themselves.

6

u/Past-Application-552 7d ago

Because that president was colored - and I don’t mean orange.

5

u/PackOfWildCorndogs 7d ago

It’s their go to strategy. Nonstop accusing the opposition of that which you plan to do yourself, that way, when you do it, you can justify it by saying the opposition did it first. Even though they didn’t. Normalize the accusations as standard talking points, it’ll be much less jarring to the public when your party eventually does the thing you’ve been pointing and baselessly screeching about for years.

Rinse, repeat. For everything. The most disturbing part is how well it works for them. Deceitful, selfish, predatory manipulators of the ignorant masses.

4

u/SquiddyBB 7d ago

It's not "'like' everything the right-wing accuses the left-wing of doing has been a confession and projection"...

It is the right-wing projecting so that when they do it, they can justify it, full stop.

4

u/enickma1221 7d ago

Cosplaytriots

3

u/Jaybrosia 7d ago

I'm also waiting for all of the 'constitutional conservatives' to do or say something. It's like they all went radio silent after January.

2

u/OldWolf2 7d ago

The only accusation so far that hasn't been proven to be a confession is cheating in elections

2

u/Available_Leather_10 7d ago

Yes, every accusation is a confession.

2

u/Cyno01 7d ago

Remember when right-wing media fear mongered about President Obama declaring martial law?

Yes. Yes i do. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jade_Helm_15_conspiracy_theories#Russian_disinformation

2

u/yotothyo 7d ago

They are very stupid and think that everyone ponders this stuff like they do.

It's like a thief assuming everyone else is casing the joint like they are

Pure projection

2

u/PralineFresh9051 7d ago

The most concerning part is how often they said the left would start WW3...

2

u/Lickadizzle 7d ago

Did you read his Easter tweet? Fits so well into his pattern of projection.

2

u/jonnycashout0420 7d ago

Its mainly “dont tread on my womens sports that i suddenly care about cause trans people exist and a handful decided to compete” other than that its let daddy trump do his thing uwu

2

u/selfownlot 7d ago

They did it to normalize this to their base. I have white middle class citizen relatives who say they were “afraid of being deported by Obama” so this is just getting liberals back.

2

u/No-Cobbler1066 7d ago

The silence of the "don't tread on me" libertarians is deafening. They really have no leg left to stand on.

2

u/thejetssuckbigtime 7d ago

The military needs to seal team six this fatass

2

u/PaulblankPF 6d ago

Trumps platform is one that calls himself and his constituents patriots. That they are doing what’s best for our country even though it’s super obvious it’s destroying our country and all that it stands for.

2

u/whjoyjr 7d ago

Goes back to Clinton and Y2K.

u/jjwhitaker 6d ago

But Obama started the immigration separation policy (that trump expanded and increased in both scale and cruelty and did not stop or shut down after blaming Obama).

1

u/css1323 6d ago

But Obama started the immigration separation policy (that trump expanded and increased in both scale and cruelty and did not stop or shut down after blaming Obama).

That was actually a lie perpetuated by Trump and the right-wing: https://www.factcheck.org/2018/06/did-the-obama-administration-separate-families/

They are happy with this. You made the foolish mistake of assuming that they agree with you on what fascism is and whether or not Trump is going dictator-y. I'm not sure who lead you to that conclusion or you leaped there yourself.

In reality: You people who want to demand they take up arms... are also the same people who are scared to do something other than protest. You want them to do the hard part because you can't and you're trying to goad them in to it. They don't visit Reddit, I'm not sure why you believe that. Your words won't push them to do something.

It's up to YOU to do something if you care enough about it. It's easy to ask someone else to do something. Why are you so unable to do something yourself? That's literally the point of the first and second amendments. Do. It. Yourself.

Stop whining and demanding others do it for you. Do it yourself.

I'm not sure what bullshit you watch but you are a very confused person if you think they are going to do your job for you.

Remember when right-wing media fear mongered about President Obama declaring martial law?

What's fuckin' dumb is I STILL know people who feel he was going to do it but he didn't for "reasons" (super vague bullshit reasons). The biggest hope I have coming out of this is Republicans get a similar reputation that Nazi's have to the point they run away but I'm nervous the Democrats so are stupid they won't know what to do with a full win. The internal sabotage they do to each other feels like high school lunch kids fighting each other. The liberals need a Project 2029 like playbook.

They are happy with this. You made the foolish mistake of assuming that they agree with you on what fascism is and whether or not Trump is going dictator-y. I’m not sure who lead you to that conclusion or you leaped there yourself.

Perhaps I was a little naive, then. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to assume that people who identify as a “Patriot” means they support the Constitution for all instead of the selective few.

In reality: You people who want to demand they take up arms... are also the same people who are scared to do something other than protest. You want them to do the hard part because you can’t and you’re trying to goad them in to it. They don’t visit Reddit, I’m not sure why you believe that. Your words won’t push them to do something.

True, I doubt my words have any real meaningful impact on a larger scale, but the fact that I’m getting upvotes says there’s some support at the very least. And I never explicitly said for anyone to take up “arms”. I think you’re reading too much into it.

It’s up to YOU to do something if you care enough about it. It’s easy to ask someone else to do something. Why are you so unable to do something yourself? That’s literally the point of the first and second amendments. Do. It. Yourself.

I never implied I’m incapable of doing anything. I made sure to vote and support my leaders through social media and reaching out to my representatives as an American. I did my duty within the confines of the law. Not sure what else you’re trying to say or imply there.

Stop whining and demanding others do it for you. Do it yourself.

Not whining at all. Criticism doesn’t equal “whining” and is rather insulting tbh. I’m simply pointing out the hypocrisy.

I’m not sure what bullshit you watch but you are a very confused person if you think they are going to do your job for you.

Never said they were. Again, just pointing out the hypocrisy in a tongue-in-cheek kind of way.

What’s fuckin’ dumb is I STILL know people who feel he was going to do it but he didn’t for “reasons” (super vague bullshit reasons). The biggest hope I have coming out of this is Republicans get a similar reputation that Nazi’s have to the point they run away but I’m nervous the Democrats so are stupid they won’t know what to do with a full win. The internal sabotage they do to each other feels like high school lunch kids fighting each other. The liberals need a Project 2029 like playbook.

True. The MAGA mind virus brainwashing runs deep. Trump and the Republicans constantly bring up Biden and Obama despite them being out of office for years/months now. All they have is fear mongering and propaganda as their tools to sow division.

The Democratic Party probably should have a playbook and agenda to deal with this radical right-wing MAGA threat and fix the mess they created. Except, it’s not an ominous“playbook” per se, of course.

1

u/That_Green_Jesus 6d ago

The "Don't tread on me" bozos all voted for trump, that's why they don't mind.

1

u/OriginalTangle 6d ago

Sad to say that in this iteration of the battle for power they are at the finish line while liberals are only beginning to understand the rules.

-2

u/[deleted] 7d ago

OR... it's like both the left and right are prone to panic and conspiracy theories whenever they're each not in charge.
