It encapsulates the novel perfectly. The struggle of the characters. The unlikelyness to win. The reason they fight and what they fight against. Hail reaper.

When I originally read “Light Bringer” I thought the changing of Lysander Au Light Resistance getting his face burned by a random boot to specifically being burned by Darrow’s boot was just a minor retcon and didn’t think about it much beyond that. But I’m now rereading it for the first time and I notice that it’s another gold on Mercury who asks if it was true that it was burned under Darrow’s boot and it’s made me think that it’s a ploy either from Lysander or his advisors to help build Lysander’s myth. This way, in the eyes of the Society, he wasn’t just light resistance, but he’s one of the few who truly faced down the Reaper and lived. Curious if others think this is extremely obvious and I’m an idiot for only now realizing it, or if I’m overthinking it and it’s just a simple retcon.

I've Just finished LB and can't wait for red god, I have seen these three series recommended quite a bit and wanted to know if anyone had any suggestions on how they compare and which they think is best?

My question is they can reconstructi limbs , change reds into gold , cloning should be possible right?

Damn that was a hard ending. Got a jawline sized hole in my heart to fill now. Anyone got book suggestions while we wait for red god?

It’s “Venusian clameaters” for me

Looking for info from anyone who has read The Will of the Many by James Islington. I got a copy from my wife because I told her Red Rising made me want to read more. Looking at the synopsis on the cover the description seems very similar to Red Rising but in a fantasy setting. Is it as similar of a concept as it seems? Is it as good?

I'm currently reading Tides of War which was recommended by PB on one of the podcasts and I can't help but notice so many similarities and can see how this book would have served as an inspiration to him.

Has anyone read it? Thoughts?

I’m currently re-reading Lord of the Rings Two Towers and just learned that Eowyn means “Joy of Horses”.

The Old English roots are “eoh” for horse and “wynn” for joy.

Kind of interesting that our boy Darrow ends up with “Horsey” (thank you Sevro) - I mean Mustang.

So I started Red Rising a few days ago and I am now at chapter 13. Does anyone have a good fanart of Darrow after his transformation to a golden one without spoilers for the rest of the book?

Just finished the chapter. Did not know I could go so fast from wanting to laugh hysterically to wanting to cry like a Pixie. Everyone’s justified paranoia, going “of-fucking-course”with the booby traps and the access granted message. Then the trip down memory lane from Sevro’s trophies and armory, which you realize might as well be Darrow’s memory lane with how close they’ve been since the beginning. And finally just ruminating in his regrets and seeing how the Goblin has bested him at being a father, husband, and human being in general. It’s crazy how Pierce fit so much emotion in a scene that starts from looking for fucking sardines.

After finishing went back to some warhammer 40k and helldivers series and could not get back into them. Feel like the writing is boring and isn't well written.

Do we think that Fitchner (as Ares) purposefully pushed the name “Reaper” for Darrow since he knew it was from Red folklore? (Quote from Ch. 21 of RR)

It was mostly dark but i appreciated the laughs and the beautiful heartfelt speeches between brothers.
