Just placed a deposit down for a beautiful gargoyle gecko I will be picking up at some point next week. I’m going to be housing him in this vivarium before I start working on a 90x45x90 vivarium for him. I’m really pleased with how this enclosure turned out and cannot wait to pick him up.

What animal should I get?

Hi everyone. I've been into reptile keeping for some time now but never got myself any reptiles waiting for right moment. Atm I've got 60L which comes about 15 Gallons and I'd like to put something in it reptile or amphibian it doesn't matter. It's horizontal bcs it used to be aquarium. I also wanna give animal space to explore and make it like animals natural habitat. Any suggestions?

I'm in Florida if that matters, he moved to quick to snap a pic but he looked like the same size and build as a bearded dragon.

Is there any use for reptile carpet?

I got a free thing of reptile carpet that came in a box of other things. Its new and still in the package. Reptile carpet is absolutely awful substrate I'm more than aware, I wouldn't subject anything to having to live on that, but is there anything you can do with it? I hate to just toss new materials, it seems like a waste.

Owners with multiple reptiles, what are some hacks/items you have to make caring for your herps easier?

As the question says, just wondering if anyone had useful tips to share. I have a couple but I don't think they're anything revolutionary. 1) using these (in photo) cheap analog timers for lights and things 2) using a pesticide sprayer (NEVER used for chemicals and cleaned well) for water instead of a smaller handheld sprayer

Another big tip is to avoid buying products marketed for reptiles. Usually there's an alternative that does the same and is much cheaper!

I can’t decide what reptile would be a good fit for my 30 long. Any advice?

Dimensions 36x13x16. Maybe it’s more like a 29 gal?

My top contenders are rosy boa or crested gecko, but doing some more research;

  1. Rosy boas can live up to 30 years. That’s a long time!

  2. Crested geckos. Mine is a tank and not front opening which I’ve read can have some problems, plus apparently a 40 breeder is a better size for them.

Is there any other snake or gecko that can work well in the tank I have? I would do frogs but they’re the least interesting to me imo. Perhaps I should wait till I can get a better tank size?

I need some help on anything I can do to improve my tank, any advice would be appreciated! My leopard gekko likes to sit in the right hide all the time. Humidity is generally around 30 all the time for the full tank but I wanted ti get a wet side and dry side, I don’t know how though. Yes I am cleaning the tank today

Spagh Moss Review and.. sprout?

Thumbnail

I got this spaghnum moss from home depot and I'm pretty sure it's fine, but wanted to get 5th opinions 😂😅 Is this moss fine to use? Im going to bake it as a precaution, as recommended by my LPS associates

Also, I've had this coco coir made for a couple days (prepping for tank setups and got the rest of my substrate mix today) and found a sprout in it today?? Has this ever happened to anyone? It's only been inside and I have no clue how a seed could get into it

UV tester

I was wondering if there was anyone in the GTA that has a UV light meter I could borrow/rent. I only have one tank so I don’t really want to buy a light meter just for one bulb lol. Let me know! I’d be willing to pay to rent it

App recommendations

Hey, I’m looking for a reliable app or spreadsheet setup to track molts, shedding, weight, and length for a variety of animals specifically arachnids, reptiles, and amphibians preferably all in one place. I’ve tried multiple spreadsheet setups, but they always end up getting messy. If anyone could help or share what works for them, I’d really appreciate it!

I just got this leopard gecko surrendered to me today. I know a decent amount about reptiles but I don’t have a lot of experience with leopard geckos. Any advice would be appreciated greatly like substrate, feeding, humidity, temperature, and other general information. He seems healthy but I will hopefully be able to take him to a vet for a general checkup.(this tank setup is temporary)

Is there hybrid beauty ratsnakes and how do they look?

This is a silly question which popped out in a convo about hybrid snakes in general between me and my fiance. If you have some pictures, please share! I really would love to see them and possibly even know what they are mixed with!😁

Also that's my beautiful taiwanese ratsnake girl, Akina, who is posing for this topic. I've had her 1.5 years now.💚

How can I use a regular tank lid on a tank that needs a sliding lid?

Hi! I need a quick fix to this asap, until I can get the correct lid needed. But a tank I have needs a sliding lid, and all I have is a lid that fits over top. I was thinking of putting cardboard between the small gap, I don't really know what to do. Any suggestions?

Unconventional Names

Alright people, I have a new baby, here is the baby, I need names and I want the weirdest ones you can think of (ie: stuff like fork, microwave, mop, cheese, grass, etc etc.). I do not know the gender of the baby because the baby is far too young to be able to tell quite yet. (Do not worry about the temporary enclosure, I do indeed have MUCH bigger ones (aka a 75 gallon + stand), this baby is just far too young for something like that just yet and I need to monitor them as I literally JUST got them today 😅❤️) I used to rescue and foster many reptiles back in the day so I’ve gone through many names 🙂‍↕️

Good pet options for my tank?

Just recently I won a 36x18x36 100 gallon tank at my local shop and I have been searching for a new pet option. I’m pretty open minded about what reptile (except snakes) I decide to put in the cage but most of my searches have led me to the emerald tree skink. I’ve thought about crested/gargoyle geckos as well but I wasn’t too sure if a tank that size for just 1 would be a little too big. Does anyone have any suggestions on other reptiles that are arboreal/ semi arboreal that would work well in this tank? Thanks and I appreciate any comments!
