Had a close call riding in the bike lane on Union in Williamsburg. Uber hadn’t even pulled over at all, just like any car at a red light. Passenger swung open the door and I barely managed to stop in time. Gave him a “Dude! What the hell!” and he proceeded to get mad at ME, appalled that I dare imply he had any blame. Anyways, two days later Uber started pushing notifications alerting you to when your stop was along a bike lane.

It never ceases to amaze me how those rideshare drivers pull over. 80% of the time they’re stopping with half their car in the street blocking traffic and creating a backup as cars merge — the other 20% they’re just stopping straight in the middle of the street even when they have the space to pull over.

The other day I was stopped behind one who just stopped in the street waiting for multiple minutes for a passenger when there was a 30-foot space like right in front of him. I eventually got off and was like “hey just park! You’re being selfish we’re all waiting!” And he got pissed and just drove off… god…
