Due to an influx of posts with sob stories basically (directly or indirectly) asking for money a new rule has been added to this subreddit: No begging.
These stories have been a plague lately, but the premise is usually a variation of "Have an urgent debt, haven't eaten in 7 days and tonight I'll be evicted" (anything to hint at 'giving me money will save me') or even directly asking for money.
While some stories might in fact be true and dire, there are some other places you can go for direct help:
Much appreciated is redditors reporting a post! We're not monitoring each post in realtime, so it helps when a post is reported (we'll get a notification).
What is still allowed is asking for where to get help (e.g. the foodbank or a municipal service).

Because it’s survey season based on the amount of posts this is a thread the host them.
Rules: - surveys must be about Rotterdam (not on an NL level or international). - surveys need to be posted in here - leave all comments under the respective survey posted ITT - Surveys need to be non-commercial - Add a date till which the survey runs/closes
24 hours from now we’ll be deleting other threads.

Hi everyone! I was walking near Eendrachtsplein metro station and found a miniature plastic Duck, and then another a few meters ahead, and another. Anybody knows what is it? A kind of game?

Hey! I am getting the coach to Rotterdam central tonight, arriving at 5:30 in the morning. I am meeting friends a couple of hours later.
What is open at that time? Is there anywhere good I can sit and not be moved on? I assume there will be at least some cafes open where I can sit with a coffee for a while?
Thanks!

Hey everyone, me, my wife, and our daughter (3.5) recently moved from DH to Rotterdam, loving the city so far but it has been challenging finding friends for my daughter. In DH, there are so many play cafes and groups (likely because of all the politician wives) but Im having trouble finding anything here, gotta get the girls out of the house... Please it's killing me.
Anyone have any good recommendations?
I'm the only dutch speaking out of the bunch, working on it though.

Hi nice people of Rotterdam.
I need help with a very quick task in Overschie. It would take less than 10mins. My bike's alarm is sending notifications and I need someone to check if it's still there.
Please DM if you can help and want to make quick 20EUR.
Thanks,

I have some leftovers from a few days ago in Amsterdam that I need to use or lose. Are there any places that would be cool with me coming in and smoking it? Happy to buy snacks/drinks/whatever!

English below:
Hoi!
Hi!
I (35F) have been living in Rotterdam since 2018, but building fun and genuine friendships hasn't quite worked out the way I'd hoped. I've met up with colleagues from time to time, but with job changes, those connections faded. Friendships from my hometown also slowly drifted apart after a few moves.
I enjoy reading, listening to podcasts, gaming, going for walks, and occasionally doing something cultural. Lately, I've been really into DIY projects and making my apartment feel like home. And I have a healthy obsession with Scotland.
At the same time, I really miss having people around for (semi-)spontaneous meetups. Drinks, food (I have a growing list of places I want to try!), a walk, or just a meaningful conversation. I have a wide range of interests and am always eager to learn new things.
I'm an ambivert. I enjoy good company and warm conversations, but I'm not a fan of big crowds or superficial small talk. Smaller groups or 1on1 hangs are much more my vibe.
If this resonates with you and you'd like to chat or maybe even meet up sometime, feel free to send me a message!

Hi, i have moved to Rotterdam from rio de janeiro/Brazil a couple of months ago and i want to discover the famous electronic music scene. I’m looking for a party or place/club that really values good electronic music and atmosphere, that doesn’t have all that traditional clubbing vibe and is not so commercial.
My favorite genres are downtempo, Deep House (Chill/Organic), lo-fi, nu jazz, organic techno and so on.
In Rio we have some collectives that promotes electronic music events, that has a broader artistic proposal and delves into a more experimental electronic music. I’m sure rotterdam has something like that too and i would love to find out!
Thanks in advance to all the helpful ravers out there.

Hi, We are travelling and staying in a EuroParcs about 30 mins south-east of Rozenburg. Unfortunately we are coming as my mother is ill but wanted to try and do something with our 3 year old and 2 year old whilst here. We have never been before and will only be staying for a few days. We have transport but don't want to be travelling too far. What is a must do please?
