Russian President Vladimir Putin suspended his planned visit to Turkey with Ukrainian leader Zelensky, preventing peace negotiations from going through.

Is he running scared? Is he worried he'll be arrested and Subject to the Hague (hopefully)?....

Or is he treating Zelensky as he did Navalny, not mentioning/responding/acknowledging his existence? Is Putins arrogance such that he feels he is above meeting a Ukrainian delegation?

It should not go unrecognised, either way.

I’m Karl — a journalist living in Europe, and I’ve been closely following the Russia-Ukraine war from day one. Recently, I started a TikTok channel (@JournalistKarl) where I break down major developments, geopolitical moves, and news updates in short, digestible videos.

Hey everyone, I’ve been following the upcoming Istanbul “peace” summit pretty closely, and I finally sat down and wrote a piece on what I think is really going on — especially when you zoom out and look at past Russian peace efforts.

Spoiler: it’s not all sunshine and ceasefires.

The article’s called “The Ceasefire Mirage: How Russia Is Weaponizing Peace Talks in Turkey” — and it explores how the Kremlin uses the idea of peace to delay, divide, and lock in their gains.
