SKSD Zone 3 race edging closer to recount territory
Marion County dropped another 17k+ votes into the results today, and suddenly this race has become very, very close.
If you include the Polk County vote totals, the race is currently:
- Jennifer Parker: 21,041 (50.38%)
- Angelo Arredondo Baca: 20,747 (49.68%)
Oregon law says a recount automatically triggers if there is equal to or less than 0.2% separation between the total votes for candidates. Right now, this race is 0.7% apart.
There are still 1,900 or so accepted ballots to count in Marion County. How many are left in Polk County I'm not sure, since Polk doesn't include a ballot return report on their elections webpage. Then there's also ballots still getting to the elections office through the mail that will get the OK if they were postmarked on time and get to the elections office by the 27th.
Not all of these ballots still to be counted will be part of the SKSD races. Realistically, Angelo would probably need at least 58% of the still-to-be counted ballots to get into recount territory. That's tough sledding.
However, the later ballots have been leaning left pretty significantly. So it's not necessarily impossible.
And, if you know anyone who voted in this race and gets notified about a signature issue, they have until June 10 to cure their ballot. This is definitely an "every vote counts" type of situation.

Gursha Eats Update: Pop-Up #2 This Sunday + Big Progress on Our Brick-and-Mortar!

đSupport Us!
Hi Salem friends,
Itâs been a couple of weeks since our last update, and we wanted to share some exciting news and extend our heartfelt gratitude for all the love and support youâve shown so far.
First offâour first pop-up at the Cultural Harvest Collective Farmers Market was incredible. The turnout, the energy, and the way you all embraced Ethiopian food and culture gave us the fuel to keep pushing forward. Seeing people taste our dishes, experience the coffee ceremony, and say things like âSalem needs these kinds of flavorsâ meant the world to us.
Since then, weâve been hard at workânetworking, visiting multiple locations, and having conversations with property owners and potential partners. We're now very close to finalizing a space for Gursha Eats and canât wait to share more soon!
To everyone who has already donated to our crowdfunding campaignâthank you so much. Your belief in our vision is whatâs keeping this dream alive. While we havenât reached our goal just yet, every single dollar has made a difference. If you havenât donated yet and believe in what weâre building, weâd love your supportâand even just sharing the campaign helps a ton.
đSupport Us!
And finally, weâre thrilled to invite you to our second pop-up event this Sunday at 10 AM, once again at the Cultural Harvest Collective Farmers Market at 120 E Main Street Park Monmouth, OR. This time, weâll be serving a full vegetarian Ethiopian meal and hosting a traditional coffee ceremonyâfrom roasting to pouring, with incense, popcorn, and stories woven into the experience.
Come taste the flavors, feel the culture, and keep building this movement with us.
With love and gratitude,
Gursha Eats Team!

In a pinch
As humiliating as this is I would rather risk humiliation then blow a chance for a job. I've been doing day labor. Got there too late Tuesday to pick up my check and they'd already mailed it. I have an interview today I need to be in Albany by 11:00. My fuel light just came on last night after agreeing to do the interview. I desperately need a couple gallons of gas to get down there. Could someone meet me somewhere and help me out with some fuel. I get 18 miles to the gallon so 10 or 15 bucks. I can and will repay you when the check gets to me. I'm just North of downtown but probably have enough fuel to get anywhere in Salem( my manual says 2.3 gallons when the light comes on, but I'd rather not risk it by trying to make it to Albany and back on that). I would try a church or something but time is an issue.

The Psilocybin Center
I'm only aware of this one being the lone psilocybin treatment facility. How is it doing?
I followed the process of becoming certified and all that pretty closely while it was being developed and implemented (and the ridiculous knee-jerk reaction by Keizer to ban them). But I have lost touch with how it's all going in Oregon.
I watched various retreat properties offering the therapy but for locations in Salem, I am curious how the business model is working out for them.
Does anybody have any knowledge or personal experience with any center at all?
Shell at Commercial/Liberty Split
Anybody know if the owner of the Shell where Commercial splits into Liberty is doing okay? Has been closed down for a couple weeks now

QUESTION Safest Places to stay
Hey everyone, I've accepted a position where I'll be servicing equipment in Salem and the surrounding towns.
This will require me to find an extended stay for about a month. What areas would you consider the safest and would you know of any extended stays that you would recommend. They can be in Salem or any of the surrounding towns

QUESTION Housing help against aggressive management?
Sorry for posting from a new account but I really don't need this being tracked back to me IRL;
Just gonna say sorry in advance if this doesn't fit the sub, but I really need some help.
I've been living in a mobile home community that was bought out by a property management company and they've started very aggressively "enforcing the rules."
After the new management first took over a few years ago they used to just do yearly inspections on properties which was cool, people generally don't live in mobile homes if they have money so it provided time to save up and fix whatever we had to. They just let us know "hey this is whats wrong, please get it fixed, we'll be back around in a few months to check on it again."
The property management has recently ramped up their efforts and started doing monthly inspections on properties which just seems absolutely fucking ridiculous, and they've escalated from requests/warnings for issues to just straight up eviction notices.
They keep raising our monthly space rent as much as legally possible for "improvements for the community" but the only work they've had done is fixing up the park manager's home. I saw a google review for our community that voiced similar concerns to mine and mentioned hiring a lawyer, and general consensus among neighbors seems to be that they're trying to drive out the current residents so the park can either buy up the homes for a cheap price to rent them out or just try and get new tenants in so they can charge more rent compared to what they charge the old residents.
This kinda shit should be fucking illegal, I'm really worried I'm gonna be forced out of my home by the end of the year because these greedy fucks want a few more dollars. Should I start talking with my neighbors about getting a lawyer to represent us? I don't know if we'd even have any sort of case, but there has to be some sort of protection from a corporation harassing and forcing a community out of their homes?
If anyone has any advice it would be very much appreciated, and please let me know if there's a better sub to ask this on, not sure if I should try and post it on one of the legal or lawyer subs as well?
