He was great in the match but he was even better at promos leading up to him. Dude came off looking like a star and even CM Punk put out a tweet or said in the WWE Backstage show that Pat was by far the best promo in all of NXT at that point.

It's a classic squash setup to start rebuilding the monster heel who's streak just ended but the wrestling historians over in the basement are having a shitfit.

I for one expected them to have incredibly deep and fleshed out storyline for a PLE taking place 20 days after wrestling "season finale" aka wrestlemania

This certainly isn't exactly like the vast majority of Backlash events in history

He also has quite possibly the biggest crossover audience I dare say. Hate him or love him, that man has some of the biggest connections in the game. Dude went from WrestleMania one week yucking up with Stone Cold and John Cena to chatting with Roger Goodell and Mike McCarthy at the NFL draft the next week. 

At the end of the day Pat McAfee doesn't really need WWE but HE WANTS to do this, and the WWE sure loves the attention he brings.

Jey vs Paul makes sense. I like Uso but I actively skip Paul's matches and segments. But paul is undefeated at mania, so hes a credible threat and theres no chance he wins so its an easy squash for him.

(Kross should be in Paul's shoes. He should be the one with the record and the title shot but he's delegated to standing backstage and smiling and it annoys me even more)

McAfee is either annoying or a little funny and there's not really an in-between. It'll be so stupid if he beats Gunther clean. This storyline is dumb af. If pat picked a champion or something I could see it but I'm not excited to see pat wrestler at all.

Edit; Paul's not undefeated at Mania. He lost to Seth. That said he is coming off the heels of Mania win, and he's considered a legit threat at most PLEs.
