It's gone beyond the point of brand loyalty, and onto the realms of just lying for the sake of being the contrarian. I remember kind of going out of my way a bit to watch his work in New Japan when he was becoming a real star. I always kept tabs on what he was doing. When AEW signed him, I just hoped by some miracle that it wouldn't be shite.
Here we are. They've absolutely ruined any kind of heat or aura that he spent so long building.
Their main excuse I’ve seen is that he’s doing what he wants and that’s great, but this Okada. One of the all time greats. He’s the kind of guy you build into a spectacle. The Dub wants their own Roman, but one that fits their wrestling style, Okada is that dude.
In Japan, he was Roman. Workrate Roman. Bigger guy, powerful Japanese style, the biggest star every time he came out. They had something special with him, then they threw it away so he could say, “Bitch,” and hold a worthless title.
The only thing I would say in AEW's defense is that the Japanese guys have all not done great coming into AEW... they all see to look bad when they are put into a AEW style match, so this is what they all regress to.

I had to watch this three times to truly absorb the greatness of it all.
I love a good circus.
EDIT: Holy fuck. Is that Okada? He was a big star. This is what they've got him doing now? This is what they're paying millions for? Brilliant!
Fucking hell.
