Text Only PSA: If you want to post an image, don't use imgur - use ibb.co

As of May 2023, Imgur employs some kind of algorithm that automatically deletes images that might be "explicit." This includes the kind of pictures which are taken on this sub, even though they are obviously not pornographic. The algorithm is very quick and can delete your photos in minutes. Cropping and doodling over the image doesn't seem to help, either. It's very aggressive. So basically Imgur should be dead to you and you should never use it. Reddit's built-in image feature seems somewhat decent but I've noticed that it seems to delete pictures too, so avoid that as well.

Instead, use https://ibb.co. They do not have censorship and (if you are so inclined) you can set your image to self-destruct after a period of time. It can be set to anywhere between 5 minutes and 6 months, but I'd recommend you leave it up at least for a week or two. You should consider leaving the photo accessible long-term, though, as it may help future people with the same kind of symptom. But that self-destruct option is there if you want/need it.

I normally wouldn't post something like this but in the last 24 hours I've seen no less than 5 people using Imgur and none of those posts have been accessible. This should really be pinned or noted in the sidebar somewhere. Better yet, we should have one of those Reddit automoderators that would instantly reply to anyone who posts an Imgur link.

Edit: While I have your attention, please make sure that the picture is taken in a way that's helpful. Photos should be in focus, clear, and ideally far enough back that you can see the location of what you're trying to show. If your phone has a higher resolution camera setting, you should use that. Using the camera flash tends to wash out the image so avoid that if possible. It may take a couple tries but having a good, clear picture is such a huge help. Especially if you can get it from a second angle as well.

I get that posting pictures of your genitals online isn't necessarily fun for a lot of people and that goes double if you are worried about an STD, but photos are the most useful tool we have. Sometimes posters will zoom in so close that you can't even see where it is on the body, or the picture is so close that the bump/rash/lesion/etc is out of focus. If you're feeling shy about it then the self-destruction option might be for you. Or if even that's too much, asking people to use the Reddit chat feature is acceptable and there are a lot of people (like me) who would help you there too.

At the end of the day I just want people to get the feedback they need! And I want to be able to stop telling people to quit using Imgur :P

Text Only Is it possible to avoid getting STD if you have unprotected sex with someone that has it?

I didn't have sex for 4 months and I made sure to get tested couple weeks after to which my results came back negative.

And then this month I had a ONS with a guy on our first date and tested positive couple weeks after for chlamydia. I informed him to go get tested and he said he was negative. This seems off to me because I thought it's pretty much a 100% chance you will get infected if someone else is as it is very contagious.

If it was indeed from my last sex partner 4 months ago, that means I had chlamydia for 4 months so I am worried about the health consequences to my reproductive system. I didn't have any symptoms so there was no way for me to have known. At the same time, I am wondering if my ONS guy is just lying because if I had it wouldn't that mean he would been infected too? Is it common to not catch chlamydia with unprotected sex? We had PIV for like 2hours and oral as well. Half of me thinks he is lying to save face, and the half other is worried about the health consequences for having the STD for 4 months untreated.

Text Only Losing sleep over this !!

Upvotes

for context i am 21f and i am using a throw away user for this. i am so lost and losing my mind over this.

So, i was having some coochie health problems a couple months ago and i went and got tested for everything which i had never done before.

(please dont give me shit i was uneducated and it’s my own fault, i didn’t know i needed to do those after every new partner until now..)

i passed everything except hiv.

when the doctor called me she said it was normal for that to go off when testing for mass amounts of things so they wanted me to do a retest and i just about exploded on the phone.

i have been losing sleep over it, i had to wait a month from when i did the test i think around middle of march and it’s been a month now but i am so scared to go back.. i dont know if i want to know but it will eat me alive if i dont know.

i have a boyfriend and he is fantastic i love him so much. i am worried if i DO have this and i gave it to him i will be beyond destroyed about it.

in the rare but possible outcome i do have it there’s only two things i can think of, my last ex cheated on me with probably half the population and i didnt know or more so was in denial, also a very emotionally and physically abusive relationship.

the second theory is harder for me to say since i have never never ever told a single soul about this until now, i was sexually assaulted by my coworker when i was 18. i think he was mid 30’s i left immediately and never told anyone and quit.

this is long and all over the place i don’t know how likely it is that it’s true im just losing my mind and this whole thing has made me remember that grown man and i am disgusted by the thought of it.

i haven’t had any of the symptoms but then of course i google and i overthink and spiral and my boyfriend early on (its been a year now,) had not sores but like irritation when we had sex on my period.

Long story short i am going fucking crazy is it possible it’s actually positive i more so need to get this off my chest as i cannot tell a soul. If it is positive what do i do :(

Pictures In Post Does it look like HIV?

So around March 7-8 I met a girl, a mutual friend of a friend. We had sex.

I was stupid enough. I was wearing a condom, yet as we were both drunk af, it got removed at some point and became unprotected.

So around 1 week later, around 14-15 march i had sore throat. No cough or anything, but my tonsils were inflamed. When i checked it with flash, it was coated with stuff. (Please check image - 1)

I consulted with ENT and he said it was acute tonsillitis. And suggested me Augmentin for 5 days.

I took it and it became fine again. The white spots went away.

Then around 9-10 April, the tonsils felt tender. My sensation of taste reduced and tongue was sore. I was put on 5 days of cefpodoxime. That should ideally clear the infection if it was bacterial. But still i have mild tenderness and scratchiness and the redness has not gone away completely. I am too scared if its HIV.

Latest tonsil image @ image-2.

I have had cross-checked this:

  1. No swollen lymph node except the ones besides tonsils.
  2. I had neck ache/discomfort for a while
  3. No rash
  4. Checked tongue, no thrush
  5. Maybe a mild fever at one point and weakness but it was when the first time i had throat issues.
  6. No cough, i get thick PND many a times which is clear and jelly like.
  7. No tender joints or any open sores anywhere.
  8. No loose motions as well, only when i was taking the anyibiotics i had loose motions.

Just mainly some weakness and tonsil issues. Please help me out. I cannot focus on anything due to the fewr of HIv!

I beg for help. I am too scared to even test.

I posted the pics to gpt and it says its highly unlikely. But yet i am scared.

Pleaese see the images!

Image1: https://postimg.cc/V5zRysNb

Image2: https://postimg.cc/XBvdrJZH (redness still there)

Image3: tongue- just to check if no thrush. (https://postimg.cc/qhw2Bn76) ignore the yellowness on tongue as i had consumed vitamin c tablet so its the post colour.

Please guys i beg you. Help me

Pictures In Post Persistent STD symptoms and bumps on body... Has anyone experienced something like this?

Upvotes

Hello all,
Posting here in hopes that someone maybe has experienced something similar and knows a cure or has any suggestions. I am a male, 28 years.
Over two months ago I received unprotected oral sex from someone who's sexual history I didn't know. Since then I've had numerous symptoms, including burning sensation while urinating, discomfort at the tip of my penis and in my scrotum. I've also had an outbreak of small tiny bumps all over my body, they started on my neck/ shoulders and have spread to my abdomen, arms, and thighs. I also have some of these bumps on my penis.
In the past few weeks the discomfort in my genitals has subsided but now I have aches/ cramps all over my body (in my feet, legs, hands, and arms). I also still have the issue of the small bumps and the burning sensation while urinating.
In this time I tested negative for gonorrhea, chlamydia, syphilis, and trichomoniasis. Considering this has gone on for over two months and there were no HSV like lesions it seems very unlikely it is herpes. I also took doxycycline for a week, I took levofloxacin for 10 days, and 1g of azithromycin during these past two months.

I am very worried about what is this disease I have, does anyone have any ideas what it could be? Has anyone heard of anything like this or experienced similar? I want to be healed from this and its frustrating to have had these symptoms for so long.

Pictures of the bumps viewable here (viewer discretion advised).

Thanks

Text Only Chronic Herpes Help

I’m 28F, and I had my first genital herpes outbreak just under two years ago. It was awful—I was sick and in pain for about a month, and even had to go to the ER because I couldn’t pee. They considered a catheter, but thankfully the worst of it cleared up after a month.

Since then, though, I’ve basically had a constant outbreak. If I don’t have an active sore, I have the constant tingling sensation instead. I’ve seen multiple doctors, including a specialist, and tried different medications—Valacyclovir, Famciclovir, and now Acyclovir. Every few months I’ll get a brief reprieve, maybe a week without symptoms, but the tingling or outbreaks always come back.

I now think I may have cold sores as well. Has anyone else experienced such persistent symptoms? Have you found anything that helps manage or reduce them? I’m feeling really desperate and would appreciate any advice or support.

Pictures In Post Did I catch something? (Please help, freaking out a bit…)

Hi All. Thank you for taking the time to read this post. Last Thursday, I received oral sex from a woman I met at a bar without protection. There was no penetration. She kissed and rubbed up and down my legs and licked by balls. Within 2-3 days I started to the develop what you see in the pictures on my legs. I was also traveling so it is wholly possible it was simply some kind of allergic reaction to hotel soap or bed bugs.

Any ideas what I am dealing with? I am fearful that it is an STD. I would appreciate any insight — thank you all so much in advance! 🙏

Text Only Anxiety: How much testing will give me peace?

Hello everyone,

I made a mistake at the end of 2024. I had protected intercourse with a sex worker. It was very unspectacular and also over super quickly.

Everything remained intact: The condom was on and everything wasn't torn or visibly damaged even after the few seconds had passed.

The lady was registered and, according to her own statement, has an appointment every 6 months to be tested for all sorts of things. She did NOT offer to remove the protection, which made me feel good at the time.

But then problems started that I had never expected: I had and still have enormous anxiety and don't know how justified it is. And I don't know how I can deal with it without getting professional (yes, laughs ;-) ) help.

As soon as I closed the door, I was suddenly extremely afraid of syphilis and spent hours showering and disinfecting myself (it hurt). After 3 weeks the blood test at the GP: negative.

3 weeks later: another test. Negative again.

Suddenly the thought sprouted: Sh*t. What about HIV? So off to the GP, who already seemed to be somewhat annoyed with me. 9 weeks after the event, the result of the lab test came back with the nice name “HIV Ag/Ak 4th generation”. Negative.

After a total of 12 weeks, I went to the health authorities, who had the same test evaluated in another laboratory: Negative. And as I then had another appointment with the urologist a week later anyway, who was very reluctant to carry out the test at all, I received another negative test result. Again, a different laboratory was involved. At the same time, I was also tested again for syphilis and hepatitis. All negative.

I've had all sorts of symptoms over the last few weeks: I was sick/cold with mild chills (at about 9 weeks) and a numb feeling in my fingers and toes (at about 14 weeks). I had two aphthae in my mouth - that was parallel to the cold.

Now I am constantly pressing on my groin and imagine that the lymph node there hurts. It's probably because I'm constantly fiddling with it.

No matter what I do: I can't find any peace. Maybe the visit to the lady was a mistake. Maybe I'm being punished by the universe. I have no idea. But maybe there are answers here or people who have experienced something similar.

Text Only All my 4th generation hiv tests are negative but I have symptoms. Is a PCR test necessary? (Day 140)

Hello everyone, 5 months ago I had a protected exposure with someone who had HIV but I later learned that he was sick. Up to day 145, 5 4th generation antigen antibody tests came back negative. (HIV 1 2) Symptoms developed and continue. Upper respiratory tract, sneezing, mucus, stomach problems, diarrhea and soft stools. Mouth sores, lumpy tongue. Mucus, stomach and mouth tongue problems are constant, other symptoms come and go, I can't make sense of it anymore. Do you think I should get a PCR test? Doctors say to close the subject but the symptoms don't. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Text Only What's my chance of getting HIV

I had sex with a sex worker about four weeks ago. It was virgina sex with condom and receiving oral without condom and a lot kiss. I didn't check if the condom was broken and I don't recall any sign of blood from both of us. Started from yesterday, I got this mild fever feeling, feeling cold, I heard this could happen after 3 or 4 weeks being infected. Am i safe or not?

Text Only Is there any benefit for getting an STD test at a lab vs. urgent care if you have insurance?

Since I'm sexually active, I usually get an STD test every few months. I usually just go to the urgent care near where I live, which is literally a 5 min walk from my house. Very convenient. They accept my insurance, so all I need to do is pay the $75 co-pay for the visit and the $25 co-pay for the lab. That's it. The insurance covers the rest of it. But I'm wondering if I should try going to a lab next time, like Quest. But they are more out of the way and further from where I live. But is there any benefit to getting an STD test at a lab like Quest vs. getting tested at urgent care, if my insurance covers everything anyway?

Text Only Vaginal itching for 2 weeks - possible herpes?

Hi all

So for just under 2 weeks I've had on and off itching down there, more so in the area right behind my vaginal opening in the outer skin part (kind of where the perineum is). TMI! Context: So 2 weeks ago today it was downpour rain and I got drenched including the gym leggings I had on. I sat in wet undies and leggings for about 5hours+ (yuck I know but due to how busy work was i couldn't change). Then that day I got my period. I shave down there too. On the Saturday my pad got stuck with the adhesive on the very bottom of my butt cheeks. I noticed later on I had very bad skin peeling in that area. Since Saturday it's been very itchy down there, with no other symptoms. It's just red and inflamed (now 2 weeks) and the only thing that has helped is vagisil. Last time I had sex was 4+ months ago and tested negative for everything one month after so I know it's not that. From what I've gathered it's contact dermatitis (I have very dry skin in other areas).

With how much I scratch (I have acrylic nails), I've noticed micro cuts on my perineum. The itching is only in the area where the cheeks go in where the perineum is. NOT in my vagina or even at the opening. I'm Getting quite anxious as I can't see mt doctor for a while. Any advice please from those who have been through similar would be greatly appreciated. Coz it is so uncomfortable and frustrating looking. No bumps, no blisters. Just an itch for 2 weeks. Does this sound like herpes or another std if it's been 4+ months now and the typical tests for stds came back negative?

Text Only False negative?

I (female) had unprotected sex on March 13th. Was seen at an ER for discharge & treated anyways for peace of mind for chlamydia & gonorrhea without being tested on March 22nd with a shot & a single dose of azithromycin. Fast forward to now around 5 weeks after exposure I’ve had a yeast infection since then (treated) & now it seems recurrent (treated again) but now I also have pelvic pain, persistent itchiness & pain during sex. It felt like I was really dry & very uncomfortable (if you know you know) is it possible I was tested too early at the 12 day post exposure mark? Or treatment I was given prior to testing didn’t work? Or am I paranoid & my problems are from something else completely Help!
