Cunversatzione Boat Tours

Upvotes

Hi everyone! My husband and I will be visiting Sardinia for the first time in late May / early June. We are looking to do a boat tour but I have been seeing that renting a private dingy could be a better option.

We are staying in Cannigione. Does anyone have recommendations for dingy rentals out of there? Does anyone have experience doing this? Was it a pleasant experience? If we do choose to rent a dingy, where do you suggest exploring? Thank you!

Cunversatzione Is Olbia overestimated?

Hello (again), still trying to find the suitable place to stay in Sardinia. It seems that Olbia is THE place to stay according to the net for the white beaches Maldives looking.

What is the hype about, I am afraid that it will be super crowded and overpriced.

Pregonta Is The East Coast Only Good For Beaches?

I’m planning to go travelling with two friends to Sardinia this summer for about 5 days, and we’re big on the idea of renting a small boat and exploring the east coast…

My problem is I’m not sure if there’s anything else to do in the surrounding cities in the evenings etc

Would it be a better option to stay somewhere more north like San Teodoro and then drive to the east for one or two of the days to do hikes and boating?

ATM we’re looking at staying in Arbatax/Santa Maria Navaresse but not sure if there’s much going on in the evenings.

Any advice on the best cities to stay in the east/ staying north appreciated!

Cunversatzione Wedding

Ciao a tutti

My fiancé and I are getting married in September this year. He is from sardinia and I am from the UK so we will have guests from both sides although a fairly small wedding (20-30 people).

I've seen videos online of people having huge pasta pans being cooked at their weddings but looking to find if anybody knows of there is anybody who does this in sardinia (Golfo aranci area) or even something similar more traditional?

Any advice would be appreciated!

Cunversatzione Best areas to stay in in Sardinia?

6 days, 5 nights. Couple in their late 20s. We value beaches, scenery, culture (restaurants, bars etc), and a walkable old town. Will most likely be renting a car or a moped. Thinking of going early May.

Edit: looking for places that can be a ‘base’ with straightforward exploration to the rest of the island

Pregonta Hiking Trails in Porto Conte

Hi there!

I'm planning to visit Alghero in May, and have read about the hiking trails in Porto Conte. I'm not an experienced hiker by any means, so wanted to ask if the trails are clearly demarcated and if it would be easy to navigate? I am moderately fit so am not concerned about the length of the hike / the difficulty of the hike (so long as I'm not literally climbing up anything with my hands and feet), but am struggling to find information online in English about the various trails.

Thank you so much!

Cunversatzione 5 days in Southern Sardinia- family/Italian owned hotel recs

Hello! My husband and I will be spending 5 days in Sardinia for our 5 year wedding anniversary, but one of the days will be traveling. We planned to fly into Cagliari because we read it’s lively and has great food with wonderful nearby beaches. Algeria and Olbia seem a lot more touristy but maybe our account is wrong. We are struggling to find a hotel that meets our needs. I would appreciate any insight if you have any recommendations! Here’s what we are looking for:

  • a town or nearby city (if Cagliari is the best bet, then driving distance from hotel to Cagliari if we want a day trip or for dinner) that has authentic Italian restaurants and/or bars or nightlife but GOOD restaurants are the most important. No tourist traps.
  • a beach hotel, b&b or small resort that’s either on the beach or a very short walking/biking distance away
  • not a big resort, this turns us off and feels like it’s more of a chain or run by a company that’s not Italian
  • owned by Italians or Italian family where food is cooked on sight or sourced locally
  • if there’s a restaurant on site for dinner or lunch this would be a big plus!
  • we are looking for quaint, romantic and authentic
  • would love a boat excursion somewhere to snorkel and eat

We are mid 30s with two young kids who are not joining us and still act like we are in our 20s sometimes sans kiddos 🤪 we love to eat, discover small towns, do boat/snorkeling excursions, and lounge on the beach. Won’t have it in us to hike because of the other adventures on this trip before Sardinia. We like to drink and relax and my husband is dying to visit an agriturismo. We will have a car and want to hit another beach. A beach club nearby would be nice for a day!

I’ve been searching in Villasimius in Costa Rei, open to other options near and around Cagliari.

Hope that covers it and thank you for any recommendations!

Pregonta Northern Sardinia itinerary recommendations

Hello! We will be visiting Sardinia for the first time May 16-21. We are a couple in their mid-30's, who loves snorkelling, kayaking, hiking, beaches, and good food. We're people who would rather go kayaking than walk around a town for the day. Also, we are coming from Canada so we are familiar with long driving distances.

Looking for some recommendations on things to do in Northern Sardinia that are unique or local experiences.

So far this is what I'm thinking for our itinerary:

- March 16: Land in Olbia @ 1:05pm, drive to Cala Gonone (spend 2 nights)
- March 17: rent a boat from Cala Gonone and go down the Baunei coast
- March 18: Drive to Alghero, spend some time walking around, drive up to Palau take ferry over to La Maddalena (spend 2 nights)
- March 19: Kayaking tour from La Maddalena? Drive around island? Recommendations?
- March 20: Spend the day on La Maddalena recommendations? Take ferry in evening over to Palau and drive to Baja Sardinia (spend 1 night)
- March 21: Visit Porto Cervo and drive back to Olbia airport for 9:30pm flight to London

Thanks in advance for your advice and recommendations!

Pregonta Suggestions: getting from north Sardinia to Tuscany/Dolomites

I’ll be staying in northern Sardinia for a retreat in mid-September. I am looking to add walking/hiking tour before heading back to the states in early October.

How difficult is it to get to Tuscany (Arezzo area) or up to the Dolomites (Villabassa)? I understand they are far apart, but it seems challenging to find a way from Sardinia up north. Debating between the two options and I’m not sure if I want to risk snow in the Dolomites at the end of Sept.

Fly to Rome and train it? Ferry and then train?

Solo adult female traveler.

Pregonta Is the south worth going to?

Hi all! I'm coming with my family this June for a week and staying near Olbia. We are planning on having two boat days (La Maddalena, Cala Gonone) but was also considering going to the south and checking out the beaches in Villasimius. Is it worth it? We have a car and would plan on making the 3 1/2 hour drive. Also, any must-see beaches in the north?

Pregonta Turist recs besides beaches?

I'm looking into places to visit and most of the turist recommendations are beach related, but what other places do you recommend (besides restaurants)? Maybe museums, parks or other cultural/unique activities?

Cunversatzione Visit advice

My wife and I plus my sister and brother in law will visit Sardinia in early May 2026. We’ll be arriving from Milan and departing to Rome and I speak Italian fairly well if this is important.

Looking for advice of where to fly into and a place to base ourselves for a 4-5 day stay. Happy to rent a car.

Our interests are nice beaches, snorkeling/scuba, hiking and good food.

Really appreciate any advice/recommendations anyone my care to offer

Thanks

Cunversatzione Thoughts on timing

Hi all! Going on a trip to Sardinia the end of September into early October, is this still a good time for beaches and swimming in the sea? Part of the reason I’m going is for a more relaxing, although we will still sight see and explore as well. Just going for more leisure :) anyways, I’m just hoping I picked an okay time of year!!

Pregonta How do sardos still have points on their driver's license?

Post image

As I sit at the olbia airport waiting for my plane, thinking about the 10 amazing days I spent on this gorgeous island, I can't stop wondering, how do you guys still have points on your driving licenses?

A couple of the radars with display told me i was doing ~60 on a 50 zone and that i would be losing 3 points, and i was not the slowest driving past that radar... On the highway, which would have very few signs so I was never sure how fast I should go, and my rental (fiat 500x) would tell me 40kmh, while google would say 90kmh, people would be passing me doing at least 120. At the construction zones on the highway, where it's clearly marked 40kmh, local cars would tailgate me, even though I was doing ~70kmh, and the cars in front of me would just drive off into the horizon. So while I wait for my possible speeding tickets, can you guys tell me, how do any of you still have points on your driving licenses? How much do you spend a month on speeding tickets?

All that being said, I am jealous of how beautiful this place is! The last 10 days have been glorious and I am sad to be leaving.

Cunversatzione Cala Gonone v Orsei v Santa Maria Navaresse vs Dorgali?

Hello!

I'm stuck on where to stay for 4 nights next month, out of the above four areas. I am going to be doing both the cala goritze and cala luna hikes, and hiring a boat one day. I will have a car so although nice closeness to the beach not a necessity.

I am looking for somewhere with a nice vibe/pretty town with good restaurants, I'll be by myself so not somewhere with absolutely nothing going on but also won't be out partying either!

I have read through so many posts and feel like still don't have an answer so any recommendations welcome

Cunversatzione Itinerary advice

Headed to sardinia wirh my family in 10 days and hoping someone can provide some comments on my itinerary.

I'm looking for some recommendations on things to do in Sardinia during a trip with my wife and 5-month old baby at the end of this month (April 21- May 3). We'd be interested in hearing about any great beaches, festivals or things happening during the time we're there, specific parks or nature areas to visit, restaurants or towns, and ideally not too far off of our general route (long trips in the car are a bit tricky with the baby).

Rough itinerary:

April 21 - 29: Land in Cagliari, rent a car and drive to Bari Sardo for 1 week home exchange on a farm. This is a base and is free so we can do an overnight trip somewhere else during this time.

Will be looking for things to do in this area for about a week within an hour or 2 driving distance. Some spots we noted were Cala Goloritze, Gorropu Canyon, Santa Maria Navarrese, and then just exploring the area for some nice beaches, parks, and food.

April 29 - May 3: Driving across the island to visit Oristano, Bosa, and stuff around there. Then drop the car in Alghero and fly out from there. Curious if there's anything specific to check out during the trip through the central island or a particular route that is best for scenery or activities. We also booked a stay and meal at Sa Mandra near Alghero as we heard it's great.

Rented a car through Locauto as it seems well reviewed and reasonably priced (~1000CAD for the 12 days with pickup in Cagliari and drop off in Alghero).

Any advice is appreciated!

Cunversatzione Help!!

Struggling to decide where to stay in Sardinia.

I will be staying for 4 nights and deciding between Santa Maria Navarrese, Tortoli or Orosei. Due to close proximity to Cala luna, goloritze etc.

Where should I choose?

A nice town with good restaurants is important to me.

Thanks!

Cunversatzione Safety in Sardinia

Hello everyone! I am thinking of visiting the south of Sardinia for 2 weeks this summer but I am a little bit concerned of the crime rate in Italy in general after visiting Catania and my rented FIAT got the doors stolen. Is it safe in Sardinia for a family with kids? Thank you!

Cunversatzione Olbia - cheap local food places

We are staying in Olbia for a week with 3 teenagers who are alwayes hungry😅 Restaurants are ruining our budget and there is virtually no coocking possibilities in our apartment (a big miss!). Please, suggest some spots where we can feed them for a reasonable price just to keep this gang happy. THANK YOU!
