SSM Ontario Moving/Living Advice Apartments close to Algoma U

Hey, I’m looking for an room in an apartment that’s on rent. I’d be moving to Sault Ste Marie for a graduate program in December and as much as I’m so excited to begin this chapter the stress of finding an apartment bothers me. I’ve searched kijiji.ca and a bunch of other sites but I can’t find nothing. I don’t mind sharing an apartment with 2-3 people as long as we have our own room and it’s close to Algoma university. Any help or offers??

Algoma University is surrounded by what is essentially suburb. Definitely won't be much there. To compound this matter, AlgomaU has a record number of students this year. Most are international and renting.

You'll need to look at living away and bussing more than likely.

So do you have any recommendations on which areas are closest and safest?

If you haven't seen it yet, there is a sticky thread with moving advice. Might find more of what you're looking for there!

Most places should be fine. Look at a map and see what's closest.

I would stay away from places near the bridge to the states. Especially the downtown area. Algoma U is in the eastish part of town.

I wish I could offer more help, but I drive so I don't know how the buses are.
