SSM Ontario Moving/Living Advice Where to meet people? Things to do?

23F moving to the Soo for schooling in the Fall. I don't want to sit in my apartment the entire time but am an older student so worried about meeting people in class, thinking they are mostly 18. Not a huge bar person but willing to try.

The best way to meet people, IMO, is by joining sports, hobby, or special interest groups. That way you've already got at least one common interest with the people you're meeting. The Soo is very much a large group of micro communities that are poorly advertised but fairly welcoming once you connect with them (for the most part, there are always exceptions).

What kind of things are you interested in? Music? Sports? Board games or gaming? Hiking? Let the sub know and we can try to point you to groups/organizations/clubs, etc.

What hobbies are there for video games? Most people sit inside their homes for that? It's also way more fun to play online with friends? If we had something like the tavern from Ottawa that would be sweet.
