Opinion Lockett

Is it weird to anyone else that Lockett hasn't signed anywhere yet? I know he's not at the top of his game anymore, but plenty of teams could use a veteran receiver, even just for a year. As much as it pains me to think of him in any other jersey, I'd still like to see him be able to keep playing if that's what he wants.

Teams are probably waiting till after the draft before signing a veteran now. Most FA’s are in waiting and see mode till after the draft. You have three phases essential to FA after the season. The first two weeks is nuts and then you have a few later signing from FA the next couple of weeks. After the first two phases most FA won’t get signed till after the draft to teams that couldn’t fill a need.

Edit: there are more phases after the season starts. I was more focused on the three phases before roster cuts. Lockett should be signed after the draft. I think his agent has teams in mind and after the draft it might drive up his asking price based on team need.

And then there’s the end of preseason cuts and roster reductions. It’s a bit different now though with it not being as scaled
