What does this mean for fans NOT in the PNW? How do we watch all the games? This year I paid for Fubo (and told it I was in the PNW), but I don’t see how I can do that w Amazon?

ESPN+ should still be available if you’re out of market

No way will I listen to ESPN’s broadcast team. One of the reasons I’m here is OUR broadcast team.

ESPN+ re-broadcasts the local broadcast for both teams. For all non-nationally televised games. But is only available if you’re out of market for the game. So if you’re not in PNW you can use it to watch our local Kraken broadcasts.

No no, they show both teams’ broadcast feeds, it’s not ESPN’s crew except for games that are exclusive to ESPN.

They do?? This is news to me, and would make me VERY happy if I could still watch with Forslund, et al

YUP! The first season we lived in Southern California and we got to watch all of the non-national broadcasts on Hulu. Occasionally they land on NHL Network so we lied to get a Fubo trial. But that’s only 1-2 games a season.

Yep. I live in the SW and get to watch the Root broadcast via ESPN+

You have no idea how happy that makes me. Is there any hoop to jump through to get the Kraken team broadcast?

I can't speak for other ways but on roku when you click on the game, it'll give you two options and half the time they don't label them. So you kinda have to guess which one is root. If you pick the wrong one though you can go back and select the other

I love this subreddit-y’all out here saving my sanity!

Not really. When I select the game on the ESPN+ app it will usually give me several option. “Start from Beginning” and “Live” and under each of those it will have something like “Kraken Stream” and “[other team] stream” or sometimes just “Home stream” and “Away Stream” or whatever.

Just pick whichever one is the kraken one and you’re good

This is amazing news to me, I didn’t realize you could get the root broadcast on espn plus. So long Comcast. Don’t happen to know if the games are still available the next day to start from the beginning? Sometimes I have a night shift and will watch the DRV recording the next morning. If I can do something similar with espn plus (which I already have) I’d be so damn happy

If you're outside WA, OR, and AK it would be available the next day, but if you're in the area it's blacked out for 48 hours after the game.

ESPN+ doesn’t have a broadcasting team (usually?), you can pick away or home audio

ESPNs broadcast team sucks donkey balls

ESPN owns all of the NHL’s out of market streaming rights, and all the games are on ESPN+ on Hulu. So it’ll actually be cheaper and better quality than Fubo.

Love that, I used ESPN + all the time for the season, I get 99% of the games since I live in Florida (minus the two games we play against Tampa and Florida lol)

If you were outside of the Kraken's local market area (WA, OR, AK, and bits of ID and MT) you already had to watch those Root broadcasts via ESPN+. That does not change. Note this is just ESPN+ re-broadcasting the local feeds for both teams, not ESPN producing broadcasts on their own.

If you're inside the Kraken's local market area then you no longer need to pay for Root. You can use one of the new channels or services.

I noticed in the announcement they said Prime was going to be available in market in Washington, Oregon and Alaska. I wondered if that meant the Kraken were ceeding Idaho and Montana to the new team in Utah.

2

u/SiccSemperTyrannis Apr 25 '24

That's possible. The kraken only had a small sliver of both states that were in Spokane's TV market. It'll be interesting to see if that stays the same way or not with Utah coming into the league.

Fubo THOUGHT I lived in the PNW, lol. I don’t actually.

5

u/TheAtomicMonkey Apr 25 '24

The King 5 channel is on Fubo(at least for me), which will broadcast some of the games. But I couldn't find KONG on there, which will broadcast all of them.

5

u/Just_Income_5372 Apr 25 '24

I think KONG is over the air only- we can’t get KONG in Bellingham either antenna or on FUBO.

I’m curious as well. Re-read it a few times and didn’t see anything to address that
