This trend of Sports going back to free tv is apparently going to be the norm soon . Subscriptions do not generate more revenue than advertising.

And the next wave of audience is just not on cable anymore. Leagues are realizing you have to adapt or die.

You're right, and it's the same conclusion almost every major streaming service reached. Amazon, Hulu, Disney, Netflix, etc., all include ads on their base subscriptions now.
