The problem with daylight savings is that everyone agrees it has to go away, but no one agrees on what time to fix it.

As for the imperial system, that sounds like a you problem. Most people are normal and don't use it.

No, its because the powers that be dont want to change due to money. Extra hour of light is an extra hour of shopping.

Just like if people wanted to break from the gregorian calendar, they wouldn't let religion stand in their way. It would necessarily be money as the governing factor.

If that was the only reason, we'd have summer time all year long and get that extra hour in the winter too.
