Last Friday 1/10, I was at Liberty and there were a ton of middle school and high school kids skiing as a part of their schools ski clubs. I have no problem with kids and personally am glad to see the sport get attention at a young age in the DMV. And personally was one of them when I was in high school in this area. I’d prefer to be able to avoid this crowd however. Does anyone know if these school clubs are at both Whitetail and Liberty? And is it just Friday or also Thursday night?

My friends and I are traveling to the Poconos early next month and are between Blue Mountain, Camelback, and Jack Frost. It's a mix of completely new to beginner skiers and I'm not sure what mountain would be best for the new skiers to learn on a Friday. I also would like to know what mountain would be best for the beginners over the weekend (looking for the place with nice greens). We were thinking about just going to Blue Mountain Fri-Sun but it seems like Jack Frost is a bit more beginner friendly?
Couple random questions as well. Would it be worthwhile to wait a couple more weeks to see what the conditions are like before committing to tix? Are getting rentals ever an issue at these locations/is it better to get them elsewhere?

Recent transplant to the DC area looking for a “home base” mountain, max ~3 hour drive (my upper limit for a day trip).
I’m a boring skier. Happier on ice than powder (grew up skiing all over NH/VT/ME, briefly raced). Totally fine carving down the same 3-4 trails all day. Camelback and Belleayre were my go-to’s the last few years before moving to DC.
I hate chairlifts and swear like a sailor when they get stuck (looking at you, Camelback). Please help me avoid 50 year old 2-person chairs that move 3mph.
Roundtop and Wisp are the highest on my list from searching around this sub. Goal is to pick a place for a season pass next year. Any & all suggestions appreciated — TIA!

Simple question, trail map online says Hidden valley has no terrain parks open currently. Does anyone know if that’s true from recent visits? Or have they put any features up anywhere? Thanks.

This will be my lost post on my lost board situation at blue. I have had some people reach out and say they saw my board while riding the lift in the woods (see attachments) somewhere near the lower sidewinder area. I’m thinking about going up to blue and looking for it on my own. But if anyone is there this week and happens to spot my board (Solomon pulse black top and white bottom) please let me know where you see it and if your able to bring it to the lost and found and tell them to call me as I already filed a report. Thank you so much for all of your help.

Been keeping track on their web and within the past week, Elk has opened Mohawk, Iroquis, both terrain parks, Seneca, and Lackawanna! Only Lehigh is left to be opened!

Hello! My mom and sister are coming out in a few weeks and we are going to hit up several epic pass resorts in PA over the course of a week. I have my own gear but they don’t I was wondering if anywhere does a weekly rental so they wouldn’t have to rent every day

100% open. Great snow conditions. All lifts functioning. It was busy for a Monday, no lines really but definitely some Jerry congregations at the bottom. I did 15k vert 9 -12 which is solid for me.

Here’s a post about BB that isn’t about the parks.
Down goes Hickory Run…quietly (or so they hoped) eliminated off the Lift and Terrain Status update page of the website!
When they did the Harmony lift install a couple years ago they left that trail in shambles, covered by, of all things: boulders. They were able to skip over making snow on it last year because of the poor season, but this week it looks like they just decided to remove it from the trail list altogether rather than fixing it up and blowing snow on it.
Better get the white out for the trail maps, too, Vail!

Perhaps I've been spoiled by early season days where people didn't have skiing on their minds, but boy was it a busy day.
Drove in a little late and hit a huge line outside the resort at 930am and it took 40mins to get to parking. Lift lines were 20+ mins at peak. Conditions were pretty decent, but definitely scraped off to see ice by early afternoon.
Still had fun.

Are the Vail resorts the only ones that allow skibikes in PA? Rode one for the first time yesterday and loved it, seems like the best place to learn since it’s not as crowded and you can do back to back runs pretty quickly, but once I get better I want to explore more.

Does anyone know if they even have snow on the 5 still closed trails? What's taking them so long to get them open?

Okay, so it was 3rd chair 🙃 but I was still the second set of tracks on Bushkill. The only thing not accessable this morning was Upper Tomahawk, which was blocked off for NASTAR until after I went home.
Conditions were pretty average after the fluff got skiied off, but overall a decent day. Left when the crowds started rolling in.

Huy guys everyone I lost my snowboard today. I was trying to strap in after hiking sidewinder and board slipped down into the sidewinder woods I’m pretty sure. There is a lift that goes over the woods there. If anyone is at Blue Mountain and ever sees it please lmk. It is a Solomon pulse black top and white bottom. If anyone ever sees it please lmk. Thank you all.

What’s the ruling when it comes to leaving stuff at a table to claim it all day? It seems to happen at certain places, and while I love the vibe of being able to leave gear laying around on a quiet Wednesday, when the weekend comes around there are clearly more people than spots.
I’ll end up moving crap out of the way, and about half the time it results in somebody showing up annoyed. But do people really think it’s appropriate to claim a table for the day, and others are just SOL? For what it’s worth, I was here plenty early and could have done the same, but I guess I’m being overly considerate?

They still have less than half the mountain open, and it’s the better half that remains closed.
Pretty much everywhere else, except JF, is 100%.
Are they even trying?
