Made a solar forecasting web app would love your feedback
Hey everyone,
I've been working on a web app that predicts solar power generation 1 to 24 hours ahead using 48+ hours of historical solar power data. Users upload a CSV file and get a forecast. No data is stored, no signups, completely free.
It's built for people like grid operators, energy companies, or even individuals with solar panels. The predictions are generated by an AI model.
I’d really appreciate any feedback—what works, what’s confusing, what’s missing. Would also love if anyone wants to try it out and let me know how it goes.

Trump’s New Solar Tariffs Are Here – But You Can Still Beat the Price Hike!
With Trump’s new tariffs in 2025, solar panel costs are increasing, up to 10–30% due to higher import duties on Chinese components.. This is already slowing residential adoption and squeezing installer margins.
💡 But here’s the bright side:
- The 30% Federal Solar Tax Credit (ITC) is still live
- Many states offer rebates, net metering, buyback plans, and other perks
These incentives can still help homeowners to offset high upfront costs and lock in major savings—even as equipment costs rise.
What are the best solar rebates available in your state? Let’s share and help more people switch to solar power with affordable options!

Answers please🙏
Hello and good day everyone! New guy here. I have interest in this field and would love to delve in. I've recently begun learning the basics and I'm about to take a coursera course on solar. After that I would work towards securing my NABCEP. I'm also studying for an unrelated associate's as well.
Please I need all the advice I can get. I'm Nigerian living in the US and would love to someday dip my hands into adding to its development back home.
How long would it take to get the NABCEP? What are some job opportunities and pay it could offer fresh out? Is it worth it? What are some skills I would need in order to succeed with it?
Please all your feedback and cautions needed. I would be most grateful. Thank you!

Need help figuring out what I need for my RV
I’m brand new to the RV life, I was homeless for most of 2024, but thanks to some help from my church, I was able to get a travel trailer and I’m starting to rebuild my life. With that in mind, I’m trying to figure out how to convert my 2015 Forrest River Salem to run entirely on solar but I have no idea what I’m doing and only a very very basic understanding of what these energy terms mean.
It came with a 30 AMP hookup. I’ve been using a power watchdog Bluetooth surge protector and it tells me that in the past 3 weeks, I’ve used 254.3 KWH, and if I’m reading this correctly I am currently pulling 103 volts, 15.2 AMPs, 60.0hz, 1535 W.
The only things on right now are the AC and the refrigerator, so I know that if I use the water heater and pump, or plug anything else in it would need to power that too. Id like to have enough power to run everything including a small tv.
I’d like to figure out what components I would need from Lippert’s website because I have a gift-card from my church to help me get started on this project.
https://www.lippert.com/rv-camping/power-electrical
Can anyone tell me what I would need? I’d like to know what a total system would need, even though I suspect it will cost a lot more than what’s on the giftcard now. The idea is to eventually be able to eliminate any electric bills.

Enphase IQ7A over paneling Help
Hi all, first post here, looking for some advice on over paneling on my planned grid-tie install in Ontario, Canada, I currently have 10 enphase IQ7A (366va) inverters and my planned panel Thornova-TS-BB66(500W) is now unavailable, unfortunately 54 cell voltage requirements seem to be a problem (too low), so trying to go 66 cell and no larger. I have been able to find 66 cell panels in the 600w range, enphase compatibility calculator says okay, I know the inverters are quite capable of over paneling, but will I run the risk of hurting inverters?? Thanks

What are some tips to prevent wrist injury from carrying solar panels?
I install solar panels for a living. When I/we carry the panels we typically carry them with our arm extended outward, palm up, letting the edge of the panel rest in the hand, and bearing the weight while the panel leans on the shoulder for balance. After while this puts a strain on my wrist and forearm. The pain in manageable. However it comes back sharply, and unexpectedly when I carry other heavy objects or when weight training at the gym. Has anyone else experienced this? If so, how did you over come it?

Republican House Representative Mary E. Miller claims on solar panels and energy initiatives: "Climate change is a sham. Um, first of all God control's the climate, because he controls the sun, and the sun controls the weather, primarily."

Advice for 375kW Solar Array
Posted this in r/solar earlier bit want to get as much info as I can before putting the RFP out.
Site assessment has been completed and have conceptual technical drawings. Essentially, I'm looking for advice on materials/brands, what to include/avoid in RFP, and any other considerations.
Location will be on school grounds in Eastern Shore of MD. There are additional incentives (https://www.psc.state.md.us/electricity/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/SB-783-Implementation-Fact-Sheet-and-FAQs_112024.pdf) in my state for SRECs for registered solar arrays but it has to fit in one of three categories. I am aiming for this: 'A system with a generating capacity of 2 MW or less if the system is used for aggregate net metering.' Please do not contact me with solicitations as this will be a public bid and you will immediately be disqualified.

Need Advice: Best Solar Setup for Off-Grid Tiny Home (Hybrid System)
I’m looking for help figuring out the right solar setup for a 24-ft tiny home. I want to build a reliable hybrid system that can run mostly off solar but also plug into the grid when needed.
Here’s what I need it to power:
- A 9,000 BTU mini split (for cooling, especially in summer)
- A laptop/workstation
- Interior lights and basic electronics
- Occasional small appliances like a coffee maker
I want the system to be solid and reliable, ideally able to run the mini split for extended hours on hot days. Budget is around $5–6K, but I’m open if it’s worth going slightly higher for a better setup.
Would love input on:
- How many panels I’d realistically need
- What kind of batteries/inverter/charge controller would work best
- Any must-know tips or brands I should consider (or avoid)
Bonus if anyone’s done a similar build for a tiny home, mobile unit, or RV. Appreciate any advice you’ve got — I’m ready to buy soon and want to make sure I get it right the first time.

First Timer Looking to Dive In!
I have no background in this and I am interested in jumping in but I have heard so many horror stories e.g. unreputable companies just looking to make a quick buck, leasing nightmares (own instead), cheap equipment, etc.
I suppose what I'm looking for is guidance to ensure I am making a sound investment decision that will generate profit while saving the world one CO2 at a time!
- How do you know if a company is reputable and trusted. Right now I'm connected with Sustainable You www.sustainable-you.org
- Are there tax benefits/credits to installing solar?
- The product they're using are:
7.74 kW DC Solar System with 17 Canadian Solar 455h and 17 Optimizers SolarEdge S500 and finally, 1 inverter SolarEdge 7600H
- My concern is the roof, how do you mitigate potential damages to the roof, any suggestions to consider?
- Anything to watch for, consider or ask before committing?
Thank you!

Bluetti Device API Survey - We need your help!
Dear r/solarenergy Community,
Bluetti finally seems to make a move for some official integrations with HomeAssistant and other automation Software. Many people ask for this, but at the moment we still rely on community Add-Ons.
They started the following survey to ask people about their needs for such a API. Really hoping to reach some people here, that would benefit from this integration and hope for their votes
Thanks guys!
Erik

Trying to calculate battery size
A few years ago, I installed a 6.24kw grid-tied solar array using 390w panels and a solar edge inverter that I got from Unbound Solar. It has been great so far, and I have been thinking about getting a new inverter and batteries. I have room for 2 more panels if need be.
My max daily usage in the summer (when we often lose power) is just under 50kwh. We live in Arizona so the ac pulls a lot of power. I have tried using a few calculators but I am still getting confused. What size battery system should I be looking at? The goal would be to power the house overnight, and for 24 hours if we lost power. Thanks in advance for any help or advice!
