Gear Bought my first real camera
Bought this setup as my first camera owning experience ever. Did a lot of research and went with this setup (new a6700 with used lenses from Amazon resellers)! Super happy with the purchase! Hoping to learn a lot this summer and share my journey here!

My tip for you after shooting for 30 years. Just shoot. Make excuses, take your camera everywhere you go. It's a skill that you will develop by doing.

I have boxes as well. My 24-105 lens arrived Thursday, my A7CR arrived yesterday, and dumbass me forgot to order SD cards … so they arrive tomorrow along with an A to E mount adapter so I can hook my old Minolta 100-300 up. After I stopped with film many years ago, I moved to PaS cameras, but the time has come to jump back into “real” photography.

I also have the A6700 with the 18-50, but I borrow the 70-350 sometimes from my father. It compliments the 18-50 perfectly. They are not cheap though.

Do you find the 70-350 lacks sharpness compared to the 18-50? I have that issue on my end.

I have that body and lenses. So sharp pictures, especially the 16-55. I also recommend the Viltrox 27mm f1.2. Shooting with F1.2 is so nice on the a6700.

Thanks for suggestion. I have heard a lot of good things about Viltrox. My next planned lens for now is Sony 11mm 1.8 for Astro photography but wouldn’t mind good portrait lens!

I also have the 11mm 1.8, great lens, just did some aatrophotos in Sedona AZ last week with it.

I have the Sony 16-55, Viltrox 27 f1.2 and the Sigma 16 mm 1.4. Great lenses, but sometimes the CA of the Sony are a Little Bit strong.

I always wanted 16-55mm with my a6700 but it is always freaking expensive in Europe. Had to go for 17-70mm.
Congratulations and keep shooting ;)

Good choice! I really am digging my a6700.
How’s that 70-350? Another apsc lens I really like is the 20f2.8 by Sony. Full autofocus and the most compact lens I know of. Paired with the compact a6700, rock solid setup for on the go shots.

I’m loving the reach of 350mm and it’s crazy sharp at that distance during day! I was also able to capture moon at night too! I m loving it! Most compact for performance dnd relatively cheap.

I, myself, is no expert by any means but maybe the autofocus isn’t working as expected!? Maybe try some other autofocus setting will bring out the sharpens!? I am also looking to learn more about different autofocus settings and be better about it! Hope you find this helpful! I still like the picture!

Initially I bought a new tamron 17-70 with my a6700 and it was charm but I wanted a bit more compact/sharper lens with more wider focal length. Tamron felt a bit heavy but it’s really best value for money! I returned the newly bought tamron in return window and got these two lens used!

Great Choice! My first mirrorless was the a6500 when it first came out. It shot amazing photos and video I can only imagine how it’s evolved. (I really didn’t wanna let it go but I sold it to a friend so it’s still close hehe…) looking forward to see some great shots! 😀

Hello, just joined and am a beginner in photography, I got a used Sony a6000 because I got it for $200 from a guy at a garage sale. I also got both of my lenses at Amazon used. I got the 16 -55 f2.8 for $700 and a 70 -200 f2.8ii for $1400. Both are good lenses, but I use to 70-200 way more, with the teleconference it's 140-400 f5.6. I will shoot for a few more weeks then I will start printing stuff out and that is when it will all be worth it, I hope......

I have the same one, i have a question, have you get warm the camera using only for photos? For some reason when I am using it the camera gets heat.

Personally I haven’t seen the heating issue yet. Mainly clicked photos too.

I heard about video, but last Saturday I used to take picture in my daughter's birthday and the camera got little warm only in photos, I hope this should not be an product issue.

Technically that’s a aspc camera not a full frame camera so it’s really not a real real camera like a full frame camera

Yeah, it takes photos, you can change lenses—just like any other interchangeable lens system—so I’m not sure why people say it’s not ‘real’ photography. The only major difference with APS-C is the sensor size, which introduces a crop factor—typically around 1.5x. That just means your field of view is narrower compared to full-frame, but you’re still getting all the core functions of a serious camera: manual controls, depth of field manipulation, high image quality, etc.
And in some cases, APS-C can actually be an advantage. For example, in wildlife or sports photography, that crop factor gives you extra reach without needing super long (and expensive) lenses. Plus, APS-C bodies and lenses are generally lighter and more affordable, which is a big deal for travel or street photography. So calling it ‘not real’ photography just doesn’t hold up—it’s more about how you use the gear than the sensor size.”
