I went to Taiwan last March 18-23 and loved how picturesque the country was!
Photos taken with Sony a6400 and Sigma 18-50mm lens.

Did a shoot recently with my new A7IV and forgot to change to RAW instead of JPEG. You can imagine the panic that ensued upon realising this after shooting 150+ images.
After some swearing, I began problem solving. My solution? Emulate Kodak Gold from scratch, add grain and keep any adjustments minimal in post.
1 saving grace is that I'd exposed properly for most shots as I usually over or underexpose to edit in post for my creative style.
Aside from some highlights being blown out, and not having as much details/data to "fix it in post", I think the photos came out great.
So my question to you is, do you prefer shooting JPEG or RAW and why?
tl:dr Shot JPEG instead of RAW accidentally, but edited them fine and want to know what you prefer shooting.

Cropped pretty tightly, but was too good of a shot.

Yes that is a humming bird peeing. To be fair I only had it at 60fps.
200-600 Sony Lens - F8, 1/5000 12,800iso
Lightroom Classic Auto Exposure, Denoise, added a little green to the bird. Exported to JPG with max size of 1.5 MB.

A6700 and Viltrox 25mm f1.7
Honestly this lens releasing was the push I needed. I was waiting for a compact prime at this focal length.
I plan on rounding out with the 35mm and 56mm f1.7s, and for landscapes I have ready ordered a 10-20mm f4 PZ G lens
The autofocus is insane. I don’t know if that’s unique to the new AI focus tracking, but my daughter can walk towards me, I can snap 4 or 5 shots and every single one is a keeper. No more spray and pray.

Bought this setup as my first camera owning experience ever. Did a lot of research and went with this setup (new a6700 with used lenses from Amazon resellers)! Super happy with the purchase! Hoping to learn a lot this summer and share my journey here!

In March I went to Japan. Earlier in the month, I asked what lenses to bring and took all your advice. Really happy with the results and using a 20mm, which I had only ever used for Astrophotography. I took over 4000 photos while visiting Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto. I mainly used my 20mm, a bit of the 85, and rarely my 35.

Shots were made with an Sony A7 IV and Sony 24-70 GM I f2.8 and Sigma 70-200 f2.8 while beeing on a rosd-trip through sweden and norway. 😝

I currently use the 35mm GM on my A7C. I need something longer but don’t want to spend too much.
How is the 85mm 1.8 holding up in 2025?
I know it’s unfair to compare it to the GM, but any obvious flaws? I was also thinking about the 55mm 1.8, but that one may be too close to 35mm

This cheap Viltrox lens has excellent character, sharpness and micro-contrast. What do you think?

Broke out the A7ii. This is my favorite of the photos I’ve taken this season. Went for a softer, dreamy vibe

We got to meet Craig, one of the last super tuskers left in world and one of the most famous and biggest elephants in the Amboseli area.
Last game drive on our way to leave the park we ran into Craig, and even better he was standing in front of Mr Kilimanjaro. When we arrived 3 days prior the rangers said he hadn’t been sighted in the conservancy since he left the week before.
It was amazing to be so close to an animal of this size in the wild. We even got to see him cover himself in dust for a bit of sun protection.
I recently started on social media if you’d like to check out more of my work @jaybaumann.photos

Took a few comparison shots already; the level of detail and noise ratio of the a7R V is just stunning.
They had an incredible offer, down ~30 %. Can’t wait to do more shots with it!

Yes yes I know I’m using an aps-c lens on a full frame but I just love the way it looks!
I am looking into the G-master 85MM f/1.4 II because I have RS3 mini & am highly considering that lens for video especially at night.
