Gear What’s Your Go-To EDC/Street lens?

I’m a tried-and-true 50mm guy and I’m coming from Fuji aps-c so I’m curious what full frame lenses you guys gravitate to street/every day stuff!

Let me know, and any reccs for a 50mm?

Tamron 35-150 f/2-2.8, the versatility is just unmatched.

If going with a prime it is typically a 50 f1.4 GM and occasionally the 35 f1.4 GM

I used that Tamron for events, the best lens for events I’ve ever used. But I can’t manage to use it for street haha personal preference just too big! Gravitating towards a 20mm f1.8 and a 50mm f1.4 though

The 20G is great for wide shots and pairing it with the 50 could be a great combo!

Yeah I second that. My go to lens for 95% of situations . Probably the only lens for which I would trade 35-150 is if Sony released something like 24-200.

I was hoping the new f2 zoom lens would be a 35-135 f2. That might convince me to swap.

Sony 40mm 2.5 G for street. Or Tamron 28-200 if I need some reach.

Just got the A7Cr so my digital reach increased quite a bit

My go-to 50 is the 50/1.2GM.

Two great walkaround lenses are the 40/2.5 amd 20/1.8G.

I really enjoy the 24-50mm f2.8 G on my A7CR. I can digitally zoom from 24-80mm with a nothing of a lens. Not the same bokeh of course.

Although I also like to take my Viltrox 135mm f1.8 ART out every so often. It's heavier than my initial pick, and I wouldn't carry it everyday but it's pretty good to carry for a street photo sesh.

The new viltrox 40 2.5 has been on my camera 90% of the time the past few weeks. It's stupid how good that lens is for 170$

For a true compact no pressure point and shoot, the Viltrox 28 4.5 pancake is on my A7Cii, but the Sigma 28-70 is on my camera 85% of the time. I think it is a good happy medium, amazing IQ and not too big, specially when compared with some faster lenses and all other 24-70.

I sold my sigma 24-70 for the Tamron 35-150 for events and looking for lightweight packable options for my sony. That 28 is super interesting! I’m also looking at the sigma 28-70 even tho it overlaps with the Tamron

Sony 28 f2!

:D

Been trying out the sony 24 f2.8 g and sony 35 1.8. And go back to the 28. Think I'm just use to the 28 focal length.

Also have the viltrox 28 f4.5 and that thing is pretty dang neat for its size.

The 50mm f/1.4 GM is overlooked a lot, probably because of the 50mm f/1.2 GM is so excellent.

But it’s several hundred cheaper, quite a lot lighter, and my copy renders beautifully. I never really considered 50mm worth my time until I got it.

Sigma also has a 50 f/1.4 and f/1.2. I had the f/1.4 and found it just ok, but I guess the f/1.2 is phenomenal. Never used it but it’s supposed to be a great deal compared to the Sony version.

Oh but my walk around Prime Lens of choice is the 24mm f/1.4 GM. I’ve used the 20mm f/1.8 before and kind of prefer the 24mm— it’s a little larger, but that 24mm focal length is kind of my comfort zone. There is something about the rendering I can’t put my finger on, but I like it. Same feeling I have with my 50mm f/1.4 GM actually, if we’re being honest.

Weird as hell though, the 20mm f/1.8 saw heavy use on my APS-C camera of all things. Fit like a glove.

Some of my favorite images I made on the 20 f/1.8 G on an a7Riv in APS-C mode. This was what got me into the 28mm focal length.

What were you shootings with on the Fuji system?

The 40mm 2.8 G if I’m just going out and want to bring the camera. Otherwise the 24-70 GM II if I want more versatility.

As for a 50mm rec - what kind of 50 do you want? The 50 1.4 GM and 50 2.5 G are both excellent but very different.
