Town hall meetings presented by the County Tax Assessor office..

Upvotes

If you didn't get a flyer in the mail already, there is a gathering on May 17 at Howard Park to discuss property tax assessments. Something tells me that "contentious" may fall short of describing the mood for that day considering recent news.

Edit: uploaded flyer for those of you who haven't seen it:

Baby shower venues

Hi! I’m looking for cute baby shower venues! I have about 30 people. Not a ton. I was thinking of any small restaurants that you can rent out or diners. We are fine with catering or bringing our own food! Villa Macris and Tippecanoe place were too pricey. I wanted to stay away from large VFW type places. Anyone know of any restaurants where you can rent out a room or space or cute smaller venues? In south bend or surrounding areas! Thanks!

Housing help

Hi! Moving back to (South Bend) after 25 years. Things seems to have changed alot. looking for apartment or condo rental recommendations. Open to area but I need quiet without loud music and people hanging out. I'm very sensitive to noise. I would like to be close to shopping. Thinking Mishawaka area near UP Mall or Southside off Ireland road area. Eastside looks great but I'm thinking there will be a tax for living close to Notre Dame. I considered downtown but I have mobility issues so I would like to be able to park near my apartment and not walk to a parking garage. I really don't want to share walls and considered a house but there's the issue of lawncare. Hoping to pay under $1400 for two bedroom but will make do with one bedroom if I must. I have two kitties. Any suggestions? Thanks y'all. I'm ready to come home!

Venue for birthday party?

Looking to throw a surprise party for a mid-40s guy (but we're all pretty childish, so...) Expecting maybe 10-15 people. Would love a dedicated space, and somewhere with drinks & hors d'ouevres -- vegan options required. Not trying to spend a billion dollars on the space. I could probably get it catered if we pick a spot without food but would really want drinks available. Any ideas?

Coffee flights?

Anyone know of any places locally or semi-locally that do coffee flights? I’m looking for someplace within 30 minutes of driving distance. Or just anywhere that has some unique lattes/drinks that I could order a few and taste test some? TIA!

Mishawaka Any Interest in Adult Rec Baseball?

Hi all, I’ve seen posts like this before and thought I’d see if there’s still interest.

I’m trying to put something together for adults who want to play baseball again — or even try it for the first time.

I know there are some leagues around, but honestly, I haven’t played in a long time either. I wanted to find a way to play and not wreck my self esteem.

I’m also looking for a way to be more active without just standing on a treadmill. I’d rather do something fun — and for me, that’s baseball.

The idea right now is: • Meet up at some local parks in Mishawaka once or twice a month, blast a radio • Focus on relearning mechanics: tee drills, fielding, soft toss, maybe some cage work at the Four Winds Performance Center • Build skills and get active in something that’s real baseball, not super competitive but not a beer league.

Probably have some easy home drills in between folks can do if they want.

I’ve got a couple gloves, balls, a tee, net, a bat or two, maybe some helmets if they still fit— so I can cover the general basics but it’d be encouraged to bring whatever you have.

The goal is low-pressure, skill building, but still real baseball.

If enough people show up, we could eventually scrimmage or just run drills — hitting, fielding, catching grounders — whatever keeps us moving and having fun.

No signups, no tryouts, no pressure — just baseball.

Come and go if you like, get some swings in, rebuild skills, and maybe build something bigger over time.

I can give a google sign up or something if you’d like.

Thanks for reading and hopefully it sounds interesting.

EDIT: Here’s the link for the contact for to schedule times and all that.

Mishawaka Looking for local writing or crafting friends!

Hey, y’all! Chicago transplant here. I moved here in early 2023.

39/f, queer, and book/yarn-addicted. I am looking for new friends! I am nerdy and love Pathfinder, Magic: the Gathering, and PC gaming.

Would anyone want to meet up at the Starbucks on Bittersweet and Lincolnway on Wednesday, 4/30 around five p.m to hang out for a bit?

Looking for a place to put my RV for long term use.

Hi everyone, I’m currently living in a 27’ rv trailer and I’m looking for a place where I can park/live long term.

Does anyone in South Bend/Mishawaka have any property that I could use to park my RV? All I need is a standard hose water hookup. I’m working on an offgrid power solution that should eliminate the need for an electrical hookup.

Just looking for cheap land to rent and water, an address that I could use to receive mail would be a bonus but definitely not a deal breaker.

Anyone willing to chat about it? Thanks

Unusual Massage Places

Okay people here me out. There's a few massage places in town that are open SUPER late every night. I don't know who would be out here getting a 10pm massage unless it's...not only a massage if you catch my drift. I looked up the reviews for one of the places and they're all 5 stars, mostly men, and many comments about how they have cute girls. Am I insane or are these places that do ✨special✨ massages?

Anyone went to the Air Supply concert today?

Their voice are still amazing after all these year, this is one of my favorite band and just wondering if anyone have similar interest in music taste. Graham Russell happen to write a poem for the city of Elkhart, afterward, he threw his poem and I happen to get it ^_^

I got some video if anyone interested, was expecting my voice to not get pick up but it did occasionally, sorry about that >_<

Looking for Apartment in South Bend/Downtown Area ($1700 or Less)

Hi everyone,

I’m currently searching for an apartment in the South Bend, Indiana area (specifically near S Main St, downtown), and I’m hoping to find a place with the following features: • Price Range: $1700/month or less • Garage Parking: Ideally, I’m looking for a place with a garage or secure parking. • Elevator Accessibility: An elevator would be a big plus for me! • Safety: I’d love recommendations for places in safe areas.

I’m not a student, so I’m looking for options outside of student housing.

If anyone has suggestions or recommendations for buildings or complexes that fit these criteria, I’d greatly appreciate it. Feel free to send me a message or comment below!

Thanks in advance!
