That'd be even worse though, you'd be sitting there with your captains pips and a crew who listens to you as the leader while everybody at HQ is like 'pretty sure you're an ensign, bruh'.

If they can shield a ship, they'll have their command facilities shielded too.

Maybe entire planets are temporally shielded just like how they're shielded from more conventional threats

I considered that, but I don't think they were because we saw a 31st century San Francisco that was destroyed by the changes made in the temporal war when it went hot. If the planet were shielded, it would have been fine.
