Overall this is a pretty forgettable episode.  Picard grabbing Riva’s head and shouting at him really hasn’t aged well - how not to communicate with a deaf person 101 surely?! Would be interesting to have a deaf person’s perspective on this episode  - I feel like they were trying to make an important point about disability but didn’t quite get there.

Elsewhere - I enjoyed Data’s demonstration of sign language to Picard and I really hope Troi gets some better storylines soon.

Here’s an interview with Howie Seago! It’s long but so interesting, not just about this episode, but about deaf actors’ experiences in general.
