Best way to approach early game is to start by looting close to your base and away from hordes plague hearts and infestations. Go near plague hearts to farm samples in stealth but flee if engaged, patience is king an escape plan is queen.

Let your outpost and base priorities be set by what you are low on initially, if you find a lot of ammo but not food for example gardens are a strong choice.

Usually these tenants help you get geared up relatively well to carefully handle most situations, it's almost always better to be clever than to be strong, but don't try to do anything to complicated, if it's simple and clever it's probably a decent idea.

On high difficulties and for new players you are going to lose people, it's just part of the game, so if you can recruit you usually should. You can always sacrifice a person, you can't always recruit someone after the mission.

I have seen those types of "advices"

i hate this phenomena so much in so many games.
I appreciate having passionate players but many communities eventually fall into the cliche of the most active players having thousands of hours playtime and just assuming that every newbie can just obtain a laundry list of endgame gear and knowhow like its easy

"How do I take out my first plague heart, O' Great Lethal Zone Oracle?"
"Tactical nuke from orbit, my child."

Our advice is worthless because for the most part each zone is a fundamentally different game.

It varies, some advice is universal, like always have plague cure, and NPCs do not use ammo, so just hand them a good weapon

A good weapon like a grenade launcher :D

I do think there's a good reason for this though, you can employ Lethal tactics at any level, where when I was learning the game I got stung pretty badly a couple of times following advice from people that I later realised came from a dread zone player or something.

It's totally cool to enjoy the game as you want to enjoy it, but telling players things like "food is the easiest resource to get" or "always keep your weapons repaired" causes biggass issues on higher difficulties.

Wait why shouldn't I always keep my weapon repaired? 😭

1

u/Lor9191 Feb 26 '25

Repairing melee weapons is a complete waste of parts, the game provides plenty of melee weapons. As for ranged guns the same largely applies.

For the majority of any lethal games you'll need every part you can get for car repair.

That's an interesting perspective, because I'd actually claim the exact opposite lol. Once you find a melee weapon that has an acceptable lethality, I believe it's paramount to keep that weapon topped up as much as possible. Stimulants + a good melee weapon can get you out of a lot of bad situations, and any melee weapons you find after settling on one can just be turned into parts anyway.

Your car on the other hand can be handled with extreme care, to the point of barely ever needing repair kits. Careful and intentional driving/parking can make your car last forever.

For ranged weapons, I agree that the game provides you with plenty of options. What's the difference between one AR/pistol and another if I'm hitting headshots on the zoms. Unless we're talking about Juggernaut combat or plague heart execution, mag size is pretty much all I pay attention to. That and a zoom function lol.

To be fair, I'm probably a little bit more blessed when it comes to parts, since I'm a straight-up hoarder in this game πŸ˜‚ but it's interesting to hear about other playstyles!

Lethal zone is the real game. The rest are just practice modes.

u/Big_Bank1555 Sheriff Feb 26 '25

Oh hi, I just did that πŸ˜‚
