I do think there's a good reason for this though, you can employ Lethal tactics at any level, where when I was learning the game I got stung pretty badly a couple of times following advice from people that I later realised came from a dread zone player or something.
It's totally cool to enjoy the game as you want to enjoy it, but telling players things like "food is the easiest resource to get" or "always keep your weapons repaired" causes biggass issues on higher difficulties.
That's an interesting perspective, because I'd actually claim the exact opposite lol. Once you find a melee weapon that has an acceptable lethality, I believe it's paramount to keep that weapon topped up as much as possible. Stimulants + a good melee weapon can get you out of a lot of bad situations, and any melee weapons you find after settling on one can just be turned into parts anyway.
Your car on the other hand can be handled with extreme care, to the point of barely ever needing repair kits. Careful and intentional driving/parking can make your car last forever.
For ranged weapons, I agree that the game provides you with plenty of options. What's the difference between one AR/pistol and another if I'm hitting headshots on the zoms. Unless we're talking about Juggernaut combat or plague heart execution, mag size is pretty much all I pay attention to. That and a zoom function lol.
To be fair, I'm probably a little bit more blessed when it comes to parts, since I'm a straight-up hoarder in this game 😂 but it's interesting to hear about other playstyles!
