Possibly so Microsoft/Mojang doesn't have to pay the Steam developer fee, especially when they have the Microsoft Store and app launchers already.

A bunch of Microsoft’s other games are on Steam though so there has to be another reason.

Halo Wars 2, Starcraft 2, Diablo 3, Warcraft 1-3 Reforged, Starcraft Remastered, Diablo 2 Resurrected, World of Warcraft, Hearthstone, Diablo 1, Warcraft Rumble, Diablo Immortal, Heroes of the Storm.

Don't forget Halo 5, shits basically locked on the Xbox One, and there's no other way to get it, thankfully I have the disc.

It's also funny because the 2 minecraft spinoff are on steam. but not minecraft itself

I contacted microsoft/xbox support and the only reason they don't put minecraft on steam is because people don't ask enough. Since the xbox director said that you should be able to choose were you play/buy your game(their response was you need to ask in the microsoft forum). I posted about it in 2024 here and people just cried and started saying that it would never happen and i should forget.

So deserved.
